Hi guys
I got a very nice looking 1.2 fiat grande punto at the moment. Only problem is........too slow for me. Im only coming up to having 1 year no claims so a big engine would cost me a lot on insurance still so need to stick with the low engines.
I'm looking for help for what to get, not too expensive of course. Something on the lines of a 1.4 t-jet as it's only a 1.4 but is really quick? Any suggestions guys? Or should I just get a t-jet? Also would it cost a lot to tune up a t-jet?

Thanks!

lol incoming hate approaching.

If you want a good car to tune the vw 1.8t most notably in the ibiza cupra old shape is brilliant, since it would be 2nd hand it would make sense to play around with it.

octavia vrs last gen is also good, diesel or petrol both are great, fiesta st's are good for having a decent mpg while being quick, also tunable but old shape doesn't look that nice imho, focus st is far too thirsty, at least the old 2.5l was, don't think you could get insured on that either :p
You can get a clio 182 for under 2k too they run about 170bhp in a tiny clio!

All will have high milage but with a full service history theres no probs really, apart from wearables that haven't yet been replaced.

I wouldn't get another GP, i love my grande and I agree that the 1.2 is slow, I do admit I'd love a tjet, or possibly an abarth, but I think i would want something different.

The cost of tuning a car depends how far you go, you could spend anywhere from around about 1k to a lot more

Most of my reply is oversight anyways, insurance is probs far too much on most of them really

You talk about things being too expensive to insure, wanting something cheap, then talk about tuning up a t-jet? You do realise that the second you tune a car up it is a modified motor, which you must inform your insurers about and the costs will increase (with one year ncb.... a lot, which arm and which leg are you giving them?)

Not wanting to ruin your enthusiasm, but there are real world considerations to be made before you get that far. You need to have a talk with your insurers and take it from there.

I'd get a quote on a standard t-jet from a price comparison site first. They sit in a low group given the performance and there is on need to tune it.

To be honest. I don't really know anybody who tells their insurances about their mods. I'm not talking serious mods. I'm only talking like maybe a induction kit and like a performance chip or remap. I wouldn't tell my insurance nothing if I'm honest

A chip or remap is a serious mod (especially on a turbo-ed car, where gains generally are much bigger by a remap).

You're basically driving uninsured if you're caught or have an accident.

Hi,
If you need any help with insurance for either a standard or modified car then please feel free to drop me a line. I'd be only too pleased to help.
Regards,
Dan.

And attempt to charge you more than any other broker lol

A bit harsh, they covered me on a group 16 (out of 20) car when I was 23 for a good price when most insurers refused to even give a quote.

If you are only coming up to the first year no claims, what you need is more experience, not more power. There is a reason that new drivers represent about 11% of the motoring population, but 25% of serious collisions - enthusiasm accelerating faster than experience and ability. Keep a gentle car and learn.

Any mod no matter how small can invalidate the insurance. You must tell them about every mod.
