After months of constant **** from the Punto, I've decided it was time to get rid.

In the 11 months I owned it it had:

New ECU
New Heater Wiring Loom
New Heater Fan
New Body Control Module
New Headlight Relay
New Top Mount (blamed on Britain's roads)
New Horn Wiring
New Power Steering
New Coil Pack

It was costing way to much, almost paid the value of the car out in parts and labour.

So, goodbye to my Grande!

Hello to my new Ford Fiesta 1.6 Econetic Diesel!!

Thank you guys for all your help!!

Out of the frying pan and into the fire then! Ha ha.

I think there is a big luck element in all used cars, I've owned peaches and lemons from the same manufacturer.

Hello to my new Ford Fiesta 1.6 Econetic Diesel!!

Can I ask why you needed all that work done? What were the symptoms?

I didnt post my comment as a put down tbh. But seeing as there is a reason could that reason be that you really like fixing your car daily instead of tomorrow.

Well... As I said in a previous post, in the last year of ownership of my Focus Mk3, absolutely nothing has gone wrong with it and it's a fantastic car to drive!

Ford have their fair share of lemons, and the 1.6 diesel is a poor engine IMO.

At work we went away from mk5 1.7 diesel Astras due to poor reliability to the eco 1.6 tdi Focus.

They were nasty, unrefined asthmatic rubbish, the suspension developed more creaks than a haunted house and lots of bits either fell or broke off as well.

They were so bad we went back to the astra.

All were serviced every 3 months.

My mondeo needs its EGR and inlet manifold cleaning every 3 months and it is developing as nasty knocking within the engine which is likely to be either injectors or flywheel, both are £1200 jobs.

It's probably fortunate then that I have the 2.0 tdci 163bhp - fantastic engine, barely audible on idle good performance and fu economy.

Stark contrast to the very agricultural 1.9 in my m jet that slower, noisy buzzy and less economical

Well, I've gone for a 21k 2012 Fiesta, hopefully, should be able to get a few years under the belt before anything serious arrises, my dads had fords in the past and nothing has ever gone wrong, except the usual "as to be expected"

Also.... Magic Johnson

ECU replaced as car would not start, absolutely nothing would happen. Replacing this fixed it.

Body control module was replaced due to water, getting into pretty much everything through Fiats patented useless mud guards, also affected by this was the Heater loom and fan which burnt out.

Head light relay replaced due to lights which never wanted to go off. Even with the key out and engine off.

New horn ring/wiring. Horn also wanted to be on all of the time, seperate to all the other problems.

Power Steering, I had the generic, power steering doesn't want to work all of the time, just some of it.

Coil Pack was replaced due to it misfiring at 3krpm on the motorway.

Also I don't see why there's any bad mouthing about the engine, its hardly noticeable compared to most diesels, unless you drive it like Kyle96
