Hello,

Can anyone recommend a cheap fault code reader that works with the GP please?

I bought one that was meant to work with a large list of manufacturers only to find another seller with the same product gave a very different list that did not include Fiat.
The reader did work on my friends ford so it was just misleading information :(.

Thanks

this worked fairly well for me

V1.5 ELM327 OBD2 OBDII Bluetooth Vehicle Car Diagnostic Interface Scanner

as it came it can read the engine/abs/steering
to make it read the airbag/body/blue&me/instruments you need to open it and remove a resistor, (see pic) and move the wires from pin 6 to pin 1 and 14 to 9 on the back of the connector. you also need a registered version of multiecuscan to reset some of the codes.

Mes is the best you can get. On the website you can see what cables/adapters they recommend.

Sweet cheers,

do you know what cables/leads I would need for my car?

2006 GP 1.9 Mjet.

Thanks

look on the Supported vehicles list..,;)

for Engine stuff.. you'll need either;

a VAG COM - KKL lead,

or an ELM327 interface. = check which is needed for your car..!!,

then the coloured leads link with the other lead

to get ABS, PAS and AirBag coverage,

you can buy the ELM + KKL separately pretty cheaply, ( £5 to £15 )
or get everything in a "5 lead Bundle" for convenience..,( £25 to £50)

looks like you will be using the ELM cable.. for all GP stuff (y)
(NOT the KKL ..!!)

BUT may need the coloured "adaptor leads" for a lot of the different features..,
read the list on MES, and you'll see what I mean.., ;)

if you want more in-depth help , the TECH section on here ( FF) has a few poeple who've pointed me in the right direction..,:worship:

I don't appear to be able to read the engine module without a license/subscription.
I thought reading the codes for the engine module was free on the free version?

:/

Thanks

Should work..

use the F9 - bottom left - to test connection,

( you MAY have to adjust the port speeds);)

then once all set-up you can connect to the necessary module,

BARE cable for engine..

need coloured leads for ABS, PAS + airbag,

Thanks i will try changing the port speeds today, is there a recommended setting?

Yep, I have the standard ELM327 cable and it finds all the modules in the car but when i 'Connect' it flashes up the results but gives me a popup saying this is restricted and then goes back to the 'Homepage'

So maybe it isn't a settings issue :\
I will try reinstall it aswell.

Thanks
