Hi, I am new to the forum and am hoping you may be able to advise/help with a couple of issues I have recently encountered with my fiat grande punto, it is an 06 plate 1.9 mjet 130 sporting.
Firstly my engine management light has come on and when the car was plugged into a standard code reader (not specific fiat one) it has given me a code (P0168) and stated that it relates to a FUEL TEMP SENSOR but when I spoke to my local fiat garage they have stated that this model does not have a fuel temp sensor - does anyone know what else this error could be or have any suggestions what might be causing the problem.
Secondly the car has also now started to display an airbag failure message, again it has been plugged into a code reader and the following was shown: B0114 left curtain airbag & B0108 drivers side airbag resist. Does anyone have any suggestions where or what these problems could be or where to look first.

Was the car sat on a forecourt for a while before you got it? The reason I ask is that low battery charge has been known to cause all sorts of error messages on the Grande (though admittedly I've not heard of it causing these specific faults). Might be worth giving it a charge before you go spending money.

Thanks for the fast response. I don't think it was sat on a forecourt as we bought it from a young lad who lived on the coast and I had the battery replaced about 12 weeks ago due to other issues and fault lights that were occuring.

check the earth strap from the battery to the chassis to the gear box.

if its green or furry round the lugs where its bolted to the battery clamp chassis or gear box it could be rotten inside under the plastic (this incidentaly could be causing poor battery charging)

I will have a look at that in the light tomorrow, if its damaged could this cause both the air bag message and engine management light/ fuel temp seneor message? Many thanks for your help.

yes

low voltage can cause all sorts of silly errors air bag will need resetting

quick test to see if the EML goes out try a couple of jump leads as explained in here:
