Morning everyone, this is my first post so please go easy on me.

This looks like the best place to post as its my little story about my GP. Starts about 2 years ago when i went a bought a 2009 T-jet Sporting, loved the car. Looked great and went like a stabbed rat when you wanted it too. Out run a lot of cars in my T-jet.

Then the problems started, needed a new turbo after having it for 6 months then when i took it in for a MOT and service came back with a £700 list of things that needed fixing. So i started car shopping again, was looking for a diesel as i do i lot of driving to work. I was spending around £200-250 on petrol a week

So last week i got myself a new motor. I got another GP but this time i got the 1.9 diesel multi jet sporting and i have to say i love it just as much as my old t-jet. Its just as fast (once it gets going a bit slower off the line).

With this M-jet however i would like to change a few things. For start i'd like to change the grill to black without the badge. I'd also like to change the gear stick as the current one is a bit warn but its an uplift and i've heard that it wont be that easy to change. Plus i'd like to make it sound a bit better with a straight trough exhaust and when i can get ti remapped.

I was wondering as well is you guys had any other ideas from what you have done. I quite new to this modding car thing

Here's a few pictures of the old t-jet and the new m-jet

Thanks

Both nice looking cars mate, I don't see many yellows but they look good! Sucks about the problems with the T jet though...

http://www.carparts-tuning.co.uk/Sport-Grill/Sports-Grills/ABS-Sport-Grill-for-Fiat-Grande-Punto-Typ-199-Yr-05-tuning.html?listtype=search&searchparam=grande%20punto%20grille#bewertung - that's a link to a cheap badgeless grille, although it says it isn't available until October. There's another one on the website but it looks like it has elements of chrome on it (like the original badged grille)

I'm not too sure about the gear knob as I've always thought it looked pretty smart so never really wanted to change it.

And as for other mods, it depends on what you're looking for - performance, looks or a combination of the two?

I liked the yellow with the black skydome roof. Black and yellow go really well together in my opinion

That's for the find, I've been finding then at about £40. That's a great saving as I don't mind the wait. But how do u fit the new grills?

I was looking at doing the exterior, making it look better, stick with the yellow and black theme. But I'd also like to do something with performance. Any ideas what I could do?

I've thought about getting a remap, take it up to 165hp. But is that the only thing u can do for performance?

A lot of people just say to pull really hard on the grille to get it out but tried that myself but didn't have any luck, was properly stuck in place. In the end I just slipped a thin flat-head screwdriver between the grille and bumper and gently pried it out (being careful not to mark the bumper) at the same time as pulling with my other hand and it came out pretty easily. The new one then just literally clips into place - nice and easy!

There's plenty of things you can do depending on your taste, just have a good scan through the forums for inspiration.

Some fairly common visual mods would be:

Lowering - get rid of the awful arch gap that you get on standard suspension. lots of people choose the Eibach Sportlines (myself included) as the car sits much nicer, particularly on 17s, without it being ridiculously impractical. Or slam it on some coilies if that's what you prefer!

Wheels - personally like the ones that are on it atm but you could change them or get them sprayed/PCd. Black's a safe bet but very common now, or you could go a bit whacky and get them done yellow :) There's also the whole slammed with camber look if that's your cup of tea.

Vinyl details - some people choose to get certain sections wrapped such as in between the two grilles, wing mirrors, roof or even the bonnet.

Lighting - HIDs if they take your fancy, or even just some whiteish/blueish bulbs. Could also change the interior lighting.

Tints - Like all mods this is down to personal taste. Some people like them, others don't. Though personally I don't think you can go wrong with a light tint all the way round.

Lots of other things that you can do that I've missed off but it's all down to personal preference as I say so you're only limited by your imagination :p

As for performance I'm not too knowledgeable but obvious things such as an aftermarket exhaust and a remap can have the 1.9 diesels hitting around 170-180 hp. I've never really looked into swapping turbos and such so someone else might need to give you some pointers in that area!

I would lower it but I'm already scraping the front on speed bumps, having to go about 10mph to get over them without it sounding too painful, back end is a bit too high though.

I was wondering how people change the colour where the number plate goes to black plus the wing mirrors? is that just vinyl?

Also thought about getting the spoiler and the bit of yellow behind the sky dome changed to black. Would that have to be painted?

I like the wheels that on it at the min so that's one less thing I'm going to change.

Might get a darker tint put around it. I could possible get that done for about £120

With the inside lights can u change the colour is the lights behind the speedo, rev-counter etc?

Been thinking of changing the tail lights to a darker colour. Trying to stick to black and yellow as much as I can

This is an insanely attractive GP. Get some Eibachs Sportlines, a debadge grill, short abarth aerial and i would be tempted to say i'm done there. This is beautiful as it is, i wouldn't want to spoil that!

Cheers mate, nice to know I picked out a really nice car that the community also likes.

There is only a few things is like to do to the exterior, making it more unique. I'd also like to change some things inside as well.

A de badged grill is a must for me.

I'll keep posting pics in this thread each time I do get something changed

I've ordered the de badged grill and vinyl I'm just waiting for it to arrive.

Where you get your tail lights from? Been looking for a darker or black ones and yours are really smart

Morning everyone

I canceled the order i had for the badge less grill as they was having stock problems (I'm not the most patient person)

I was wondering does anyone else know where i can get one? That isn't going to be really expensive. And i would also like to avoid eBay

Thanks

Ha was going to say eBay!

You can find some cheeky sellers have the photo of the top grill listed with it upside down. You can tell from the shape if its top or bottom grill, just don't discard every bottom grill one as just that, a bottom grill. As you'll find half of them are top grills upside down in the photo ;)

Try Amazon if you don't like eBay, i'm an eBay whore though...can't beat it.

I just find eBay a pain when making payments

Found one on Amazon for £34, I guess it's not too bad

I bit the bullet and went for eBay for the grill for £10 and the vinyl for a few quid. Should all be here by Monday.

I'll post pics when I've got it all done

I have been thinking about changing the wheels to Abarth ones, I'm torn as the one I've got now look good on

Just after some advice if u guys can help me

The other day I noticed that my wing mirror has been hit, it's been cracked on the inside. I've picked up a mirror from the scrappies for £24

My question is how do I change them? And how do I change the coloured bit on the mirror without doing any more damage?
