Hi!

Anyone know roughly how much it costs as how long it takes to get a handbrake tightened? My car is due mot next week and needs doing beforehand ! I have a 58 plate 1.4 8v Grande Punto. ImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1367188243.069408.jpg

Also would my car fail its mot with a half broken oil filler cap?

Swear I've been sold a dud car! *sob*

Hope you've all had nice weekends!

U shud get a new oil cap if its broke regardless of weather it passes or not.

Handbrake will pass aslong as it doesnt travel 2 the top of its limit if it does it doesnt work correctly n there for do not leave u car on a hill with jus the handbrake leave in gear aswell. Im not sure how long but will be no longer than an hour to do n price will depend on the garage u take it to

I'm now on my second FIAT my sister had a FIAT and a mate of mine also had a FIAT they did the smart thing and brought something non italian i got hooked on the FIAT wagon and brough another lol. But all of us has always said how crap the hand brake is on them I had my mk2 handbrake tightened 4 times in one year once but my nabour used to do it for me but i cant imagine it being to expensive or you could always do it your self. I had an old rover i had as a work car which I used to do skids in on the work car park (please dont tell my boss lol) and we used to put washers on the handbrake to tighten it, when the car finnaly died and got scrapped it had about 20 washers on it lol probably why my boss got so much for it lol.

Thanks! Yeah was done in about 15 mins! I've done everything I can to prepare it for the MOT, just need my warning light to stop randomly coming on then all should be fine! Having it serviced and diagnostics done too!

My warning light.. The amber triangle with an exclamation just under the lights light. I've checked all my bulbs, tyres, levels, and everything else! Just comes on usually after my passenger seat is moved the next time I switch the engine on!

Never had to adjust my mk2 handbrake in 10 years/100,000miles.

Ok it wnt show up on a diagnostics test if the warning light aint on. If it intermittent then u will have to catch it when the lights on .

Not true, fault will be logged as intermittent as opposed to active.

General warning light, covers lights, stop/start (if fitted) etc
