Hi all. First of all I would like to apologise for my not very brilliant English.

So lets start with the problem. When I was driving my fiat grande punto the warning light for the oil started blinking. After a while it turned up with a beep saying " Insufficient Engine Oil Pressure Warning - turn off " or something like this. I immediately turned the car off, waited for about half a minute and then turned it up again. There was no warning. So I drove for about 100 meters and the warning started flashing again, and then the beep. I stopped the car on the parking place and checked the oil level. It was very low so I refilled it. I assumed every thing will be fine now so I stared the car, no message appeared. Then after 2-3 minutes the oil light started blinking again and than the beep with warning message. I stopped the car, turned it off and than on again and there was again no oil light showing up- after a while it beeped again. The engine isn't making any strange sounds. Just the oil light is turning on when the car is turned on for 2-3 minutes. Where is the problem?
Hope you understood my English ;p

ok now when the car was off for the whole night and I turned it up today morning, every thing seems to be working fine. I drive it a bit around and no message appeared. Seems like it has not took the oil in the engine yesterday or there was some other problem. So for people with the same problem I hope this was helpful. If something goes wrong again I'll take you up to date here on the forum.

I used to get that message fairly regularly on mine even though there was always more than enough oil.

I haven't had it now for a few months.

This is one potential fault that should not be ignored

I would advise against using the car and getting it towed to a garage unless you have an oil pressure tester

It could be a simple wiring problem or defective oil pressure switch/ sensor

On the other end of the scale it could be a faulty oil pump or blocked oil filter

Caution here is far cheaper than a new engine and or turbo if fitted

Sensible advice.

I'll let it check on a service tomorrow. I think the oil filter must be changed.
No warnings are showing up since yesterday. And I think that the engine sound is more "smooth" too, probably my ears are tricking me out.
I'll let you know what the mechanic said.
Thanks everybody for reply.

I had this problem on my t-jet a few months back.

Found there was oil in car so ignored it.
Like you the message still came up every now and again.
Had main dealer service carried out and told no oil found in engine and this was because of my negligence.
4 weeks later smoke everywhere on commute to work and car had no power.
Called out RAC and told no oil in car. Put litres of the stuff in and ticked over fine. Drove to dealers after work.
Advised by dealer I had suffered a turbo failure and this tends to happen to these cars at my mileage of 70,000. Cost me £987 for a reconditioned turbo. I suspect it was due to oil starvation.
Now have a car with oil drink problem with unidentified cause and a loud booming noise coming from engine which dealer again can't identify.

I've now had to change the car.

Get it looked at asap mate.

It has been 1 month since the problem now and every thing is working fine. No error message. I am checking the oil level very often and I noticed a drop down of the oil level for about 5mm in 1 month. Is this normal?

5mm isn't really a measurement, how much oil is put in to bring it up 5mm? and month isn't any good either, need to know mileage, awful oil consumption if you don't use the car :p ;)

Hmm i don't know, but it was fully filled up :) I make approximately 700 km per month :D
