General Electric folding mirrors

General Electric folding mirrors

I don't think they were even an option on the gp.

I've had them on a couple of cars and can't see the point.

On one car I had they auto folded every time you locked it; the hinges wore and then the mirrors flapped around at high speeds. The mirrors were useless on the motorway when you needed them most

Also, while they may be less likely to get hit, if they do they cost twice as much to replace.

Listed as an option on default Autotrader description of the car (Active Sport).

Guess you need a remote key fob for them to work which I don't have so to answer your question...no idea! Lol.

Are you sure you're not confusing electric heated mirrors, I have those on my GP. Not really a worthwhile option, just dries all the wet to the mirror leaving it streaky...

Disagree. Heating is essential otherwise they ice up on the move and you have to stop and clear them.

No it doesn't, you ever had heated mirror out of interest? Its like a rear wiper / aircon, once you've had a car with them you won't be without them - and they don't dry water, not even designed to do that ;)

Read my post again, my GP has them. They are useful when its icy I grant that (and they create steam like trails when you're driving along which looks cool :D) but they come on with the heated rear windscreen and from my experience I just find they dry any water on them to the glass leaving splodges and lines.

Try using the cabin heater and air con to keep the rear screen clear. That way you will only need the heated rear screen/mirrors on for a few minutes when you first start up and hopefully won't suffer from streaks.
