Hey guys, it's been some time since I've been on the forum, hope all is well!

Not too long ago I was driving down the road in my 56 Grande Punto 1.2 when all off a sudden the car started kangarooing till I had to come to a complete stop. At the time, the Fuel Injection System warning light was flashing on the dash.

I was able to drive to my girlfriends place slowly and leave it there for the night, but ever since there has always been a louder "clicking" noise coming from the engine as it turns over and comes more obvious when accelerating but is still noticeable when idling. It sounds more similar to a diesel engine rather than petrol. At the same time it seems less powerful to drive, and I have to accelerate more in a lower gear to feel like its pulling as it should.

I'm aware of the breather hose problem which is split but currently sealed with a DIY job until I order a spare part, but that doesnt explain the clicking turnover noise?

Anyway, hopefully you guys can help.. can make a sound recording if that helps at all?

Thanks,
Jamie (y)

Sorry to hear you have a problem, Does the warning light stay on now?

In my opinion it may be the injectors need changing as they are not working correctly and therefore thats why your seeing a loss in power and acceleration.

I would recommend going to your local garage and have them put it on the computer to read for any fault codes asthey would still be logged on the car.

Only around £15 so would be worth it if it does give you a definitive answer :)

Hope this helps

No, the warning light doesn't come on now, it was only the one time when I was unable to actually drive the car properly but the clicking noise and loss of power has been present ever since.

I've just popped the bonnet and had a closer look and it seems the "clicking" or "ticking" noise is coming from near the catalytic converter.

How much are we talking to have the injectors changed?

Cheers (y)

Okay guys, it just happened again! Car stalled first time round, then managed to get it home touching 20mph with my foot to the floor in second! Fuel Injection System light was on at the time! Worth changing fuel injectors and spark plugs?

P0300 - Random/Multiple cylinder(s) - misfire detected.
P0304 - Cylinder 4 - misfire detected.

Apparently its most likely coil pack quoted at £210 or ECM which he quoted at around £1000 (n)

Neither seem worth it. I've had numerous problems with the Grande since day one and now I'm considering parting with it for something more reliable.
