Hey all, looking to get this done cos it's been knocking for a bit, asked the nice chap who is doing my cambelt and water pump next week how much he'd do it for and he said £65 + VAT per side - surely he's having a laugh? The part (I assume) is this one - http://www.shop4parts.co.uk/?name=store&op=Details&ProdID=2816&sku=7107 - at £8.00 a pop, and other threads here have said it's a doddle to fit. What am I missing? The other work he's quoted me for is very reasonable (£200 for cambelt + water pump seems pretty good anyway...) so why the huge hike for this job? And I have searched for a guide - has anyone done one they could point me to, or is it really as simple as jack, axle stands, undo two nuts and replace part?

thanks,
tim

well if he is doing the cambelt he will need the drivers side wheel off (makes life easy)

and if your in a garage with all the tools (namely a air impact wrench) its literally a 5 minute job once the wheel is off...

home job base on an hour a side if you have to deal with rusty bolts/ threads

although on the GP rather than an alan hole to hold the thread there are a set of flats for you to slip a 17mm IIMSMC on the back near the ball joint on the Drop link then wind off the nut......

any problem getting the bolt part back on to the suspension.... use a second jack or a friend with a crow bar to lever up the wishbone near the hub to make it easier

OK, thanks for the extra info and the link to the guide - very much appreciated. Father in law has a fully stocked garage so I'll bribe him with a couple of pints to give me a hand doing it. Thanks as ever for the prompt reply!
