Hi, this is my first post on this forum (although, I have been reading it for advice for the past year)

I have a few issues with my car (2007 1.2 GP active),

- Both electric windows stopped working suddenly

- The boot latch doesn't open

- Intermittent whining noise from engine, which gets louder upon acceleration (alternator?)

- Brakes squeak when braking(really embarrassing). I have had the brakes checked out and they were ok, but the drivers side was slightly more worn for some reason?

- Car sometimes makes a grinding noise when it is starting (alternator again?)

- Car sometimes makes a grinding noise when changing into reverse gear

- Car steams up too easily, requiring me to have the heater on constantly (guessing theres a leaky seal somewhere?)

As you see, many little niggles that I need to solve. Any help/advice about any of the problems would be much appreciated.

Thanks :)

I can't help with all of your problems but:

Boot latch - common fault, water in connector, fix leak and replace latch. A search will bring up loads of threads.

Squeaky brakes - try applying copper grease to backs of pads.

Steaming up - possible water leak, related to boot latch problem? Rear light clusters and rusted brake servo plate known to allow water in. Are footwell carpets dry?

Reverse gear - no syncro on reverse, change into 1st before reverse and practice. Took me a month to get the hang of it, silent every time now.

Thanks, I've had a look and I think a new boot latch is required
The electronics on this car just seem to frustrate me sometimes

The windows not opening is my major issue. Even though its not not sunny very often here in manchester, when it is, it is almost unbearable being in the car with no windows down.

I know there is a common fault with the connectors to door being loose but since both windows stopped working at once, could it be a fuse issue?

I noticed in the manual there were 2 fuses controlling each window and both were fine upon inspection.

Do you know if there is a single fuse/relay which has control over both windows?

I don't really know anything specific about the gp electric windows but have you checked that the wiring loom is ok between the door and the vehicle body?

For the steaming up issue, check your fans are set to draw in air from outside, not to recirculate air in the car.
If there's moisture in the car, recirc will steam your windows up every time.

so, i opened up the door panel yesterday, and somehow the connector to the window switches had completly fallen out. I have no idea how as it is one of those big chunky connectors that are normally really difficult to remove. Windows Fixed

I also opened the panel to the boot, and found that the connector to the boot latch was loose. Boot latch Fixed.

They were my two main problems and at least i've managed to fix them without paying for anything :)
