Last night the car stalled, i started it back up and was making a horrible rattling noise, and the car was shaking. I pulled over and when it was idling the car was shaking and it was still rattling. It made noises putting the cluth in and out. I turned it off and re-started. It seemed quiter but i could still hear the noise and feel vibrations. I took the car in to the garage today. It seemed fine when the tech guy came over to it. Only a very slight vibration no noise. We went to go for a road test. When he set off he stalled it, and the horrible rattling chirping noise started again. He carried on driving and he said it also felt like it was missing.

Ive just had a new clutch in, and the gearbox bearing replace. Im now thinking the dmf is failing??

You need a medal for keeping that car, it sounds horrendous. But i agree with MEP, i'd speak to the garage that did the other work - seems more than coincidence that it's decided to start rattling just after they've done the gearbox.

Obviously if you can get a new DMF outta the warranty then bonus. Virtually the whole car's been replaced hasn't it?

i know these lists of fault are pretty bad, but for us who have warranty its not all bad. i would 100% have sold mine by now if fiat didnt extend my warranty. id be bankrupt!

heres a brief list for mine;

soon to be fitted "2nd" recon gearbox
turbo
egr
egr heat exchanger
N/s hub
o/s abs sensor
clutch and bearing(paid for by me when gearbox changed last year)
gearbox mount
turbo to intercooler boost hose(burst)
new leather seat coverings on both front seats
ner steering wheel + gearknob
new d/s passenger window
inside of boot lid resprayed last year due to corrosion

theres more but cant remember them all..

despite all this, dealership has been fantastic, the car hasnt actually ever failed/let me down in the 4 years ive owned it. the majority of the faults were picked up by the techs at the dealers, and they went out there way to get sorted under warranty,

only bits i had to pay for was labour for steering wheel + gearknob(£50) as was in 3rd year warranty, and clutch kit as i asked them to fit as a precaution while gearbox was off.

Ha mine was out of warranty with

Dual mass
2x egr
Manifold heat exchanger
Boost pipe
Coolant pipe

Top mounts
All engine mounts
