hi there, new metallic black 1.9 multijet owner here.
bit of a fiat enthusiast, iv owned loads...fiat panda (classic) sergio tacchini edition ;) for my first car, then iv had 3 cinquecentos sportings, a punto GT (200bhp monster), bravo 1.8, stilo 2.4. had a few others as well in my time like a megansport and i just traded in a rx8 for a grande punto 1.9 sporting to try and save some money.

just got a few little questions after a days ownership, bearing in mind this is a 07 plate with 33k
1. the glow plug warning coming up on most starts?? would this be covered under a warranty??
2. i had a hill holder failure warning come up earlier, havent seen it since. anything to worry about??
3. is there anyway of making the steering firmer?? i swear i cant even feel the front wheels its so light (no the city button isnt on).
4. how can you tell if your car has had a remap? mine has got loads of pull and i know the guy who had it before me had a play with it as the windows are all tinted out and i have found some speaker cables in the back.
5. is it normal to hear the turbo??

sorry for all the questions i just wanna get on to the warranty now if i need to.

anyhow loving my new little car and finding it a lot of fun

Welcome to the GP forum.

Glow plug light lights up for a split second and then goes off, nothing to worry about.
Hill Holder failure... See if it happens again, if so, use the search function here, I am sure you will find something.
Sadly, steering cannot be firmer, just give it a few hundred miles and you will soon get a good feel from it.
As for the remap, you can either ask the previous owner or put it on a rolling road test!
I have done 93k miles in my GP Sporting JTD multijet and yes, I have been listening to the turbo since day one. Not very prominent, but yes, it is there!

For complete peace of mind arrange a third party warranty. From own experience, it is definitely worth going for. It is a shame you are miles away from Cwmbran, LC Motors there are absolutely ace!

Good luck with it.

hi thanks for the reply.
it comes up with an actual warning once the car has started saying something like check glow plugs see user manual.
im quite lucky there is an alfa specialist not a million miles from me who im guessing will know about these engines??
iv got a 6 month warranty with this car so i may have to test it out before the time is up.

Yes Alfa did use the 8valve 1.9 on some cars, there was a base model 156 with a 120bhp version of the engine and I'd guess it was fitted to the 147 too.
