yeah i thought service intervals were 18k for the mjet?

how do they suspect you drive the car exuberant? this wouldnt effect it needing a service soo soon

They are just trying to rip you off. The service light on an mjet comes on after the car has covered 18,000 period, it just hasn't been reset. Weight until a year has passed from your last service and get it done again but make sure they reset the light.

IMHO it sounds like the garage are talking utter rubbish about the way you're driving it, never heard that one before!

If you were driving the pants of it you wouldn't be seeing 54mpg, more likely to be low 40's.

What did they do on the service 6-7 months ago and what mileage were you at then? Are your service intervals out of sync?

I'm sure the 54K service is quite a big one, isn't it the one were you have to replace all the brake fluid? If it is then i would certainly think about getting it done, in which case i would phone around a few different dealers locally, or phone a few independent garages which you may know to be trustworthy.

Thanks everyone, very useful input here. I have covered around 8000 miles in the 6-7 months. I will dig out the service invoice thingy that I have from when it was serviced just before I bought it and see what was done. 8000 miles is quite a lot of miles so could well be worth me getting a service done.

It annoys me so much how they try to rip me off though, Picador Botley are a joke, my MJET went back to them 21 times in 3 months after I bought it due to problems that they couldnt fix due to their mechanical incompetence. I would never go back to them again!

Since that is the proper fiat service interval, I would definitely get it done.

Mostly because when they service a car to resell, it's just a matter of: change the oil, visual check that everything is ok, done. Whereas your 54k mile service will most likely comprise of a lot more important maintenance and checks.

Seeing as yours is an MJET I would definitely get it properly serviced at a respectable garage.
