Hi, on my car at the moment, I have red springs and yellow shocks (my car looks like it has previously been lowered) I need to replace the o/s rear shock, i got the new one which is black (standard).

Will it matter that i'm using one standard and one aftermarket shock? I do not know the brand of the shocks or springs, I think the previous owner may have been on here but isnt any more.

i would try and replace it with the same as on the other side, if that means buying 2 new standard ones or finding another to match the other side they should both be the same (front pair) and (back pair)

ok, cheers for that! I will get another one on order

Might be worth just replacing both of them, the wear on the other one may knacker the new one sooner? I know that when you replace springs you have to replace both sides at once.

I would expect it to be the same with the shocks as well, incased they had different rebound rates or something.

yehh thats what i'm doing.... although ive been told its not important to change both at once (i have changed single ones in the past) but with this one having different shocks on, i will do both... generally, the drivers side front wear quicker anyway because there is always someone in the drivers seat

ive done one and it seems fine, but the old shock is slightly smaller, so i will order another one for the other side so they are the same :)
