Hi Guy's

Can you drive without one of your front drop links, I have had a knocking noise and when i have jacked it up the bolt was loose and when tightening it the bloody thing snapped. have removed the other bolt at the bottom and taken the hole link out. I have read that it is okay to drive without one and won't cause any damage just a little oversteer.

Any advice guy's would be great

Cheers
Dean

You lose the anti-roll bar function on that side... I'd consider it very dangerous TBH....

I would only be using it for two or three days for like 2 mile jouneys just to get to the tram stop and back, just till i get the part i have ordered two new ones as i figure its worth replacing them both.

When i thought my drop links where nocking i removed both the front ones and took the car for a drive to see if it stopped the nocking. It did feel very differant to drive but it was driveable, i didn't go above 30 mph thought and wouldn't have wanted to either.

to put it in black and white ..drop link is there for a reason ,would it pass an MOT without them ,no..so no i wouldn't say it was safe to drive ..and if you have snow at the moment, definately not safe ,,a good get out clause for your insurance ,2 missing droplinks ...but in the end it is up to you .

Thing is, if your short 2 mile drives all go to plan you may indeed have no major worries, but if you have to take sharp evasive action for something you could never have anticipated the handling would be compromized. Braking too will give an eerie feel as one side dips more than the other... Honestly I just wouldnt... (n)

If its only 2 miles to your tram could you not just walk there. With this weather it would prob take the same amount of time as driving.

Wont cost you anything either. I wouldn’t drive it, if anything were to happen the handling/breaking will be affected.

Parts Came today thank god and have just finished fitted them the must admit the car feels a lot better know the new ones are on. Didn't drive it in the end without the links.

Cheers Guy's
