Hi Chaps, I've have had a little search and i cant really find answers. I appreciate this has maybe been asked before but i wish to change the oil on my mother 1.3multijet 75 grande punto.

First off i read on here i should use selena 5w40 fully synthetic, i actually got given 10w40 motul 6100 semi synth - i was told this would be fine (and is good reasonably priced oil) however i was thinking of taking it back and going for this oil: http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php?plid=m1b79s4393p57104? - mother doesnt want to spend too mucn and i've used comma oil before (made by esso IIRC).

So....

Q1. I was wondering where is the sump plug located, and what size? - i read its 6mm hex/t40?

Q2. Is the oil filter a paper element? what size is it? (Motor dealer gave me 2 sizes you see) and do i have to remove anything to get to it?

Q3. How much oil is needed, is it 3.5 litres?

Q4. Does the car have DPF?, if so would an engine light/CEL light need reset?

Cheers

1) Jack car up and see, it will be on the bottom of the sump (5 min Job)

2) No idea, check the eper system on this forum for your car (top of the page select Eper)

3) Read your manual, it has the oil capacity in that book (near the back if I recall correctly), also tyre pressure which might be worth checking?

4) Sorry no idea about the DPF

I can't answer all of your questions but I can help a little...

Oil capacity for the 1.3 is 3.2l I believe (I'd check the manual though!)

I would strongly suggest using the correct oil; using 10w40 in an engine designed for 5w40 could lead to problems (I know it can do on the 1.9 diesel!)

According to the ePER the 1.3 diesel does indeed have a DPF - As for code resets and stuff I wouldn't have a clue! There is a service count-down clock on my 1.9 sporting, I assume there's something similar on the 1.3 that could be reset?

Hope that helps!
Will

You have to have the correct oil.
There are unique minerals required.
Coma oils do a version but is not the standard multigrade check their website they list all models and oil required.

for the reset your going to need something like this or a friendly mechanic who wants a bit of beer money ;)

i think (most fiats use a 12mm hex alan key) taper sump plug so no washer to replace either

the correct filter for you car can be found by entering your VIN number (on your V5 reg certificate or under boot mat on sliver plater or little slide open flap in drivers foot well)

open this in Windows IE

http://eper.fiatforum.com/eper/navi...INT_MODE=0&EPER_CAT=SP&GUI_LANG=3&WINDOW_ID=1

enter your VIN no in the box at bottom left and it should tell you exactly what filter you need :)

put the light out but does it reset the oil degredation counter to the correct amount?

IMO tools like this are dangerous to the secondhand buyer, 'yes sir of course its been serviced' then 500 mile later the engine goes into limp mode or worse goes bang.

your not wrong there T then again most garages have the more advanced set up which can do muliple cars off one hardened laptop know our local INDI does if they can get hold of one any rogue garage or car sales can get one.....

having looked at the PDF instructions its only compatable with the 1.9 jtd 199A5.000 engine

you know people readily jump on the bandwagon and slag kwik-fit & other fast fit places but at least you can see them working on the car which is reason enough why I would use them (just wouldn't listen to the phi*s about needing shox/tyres etc) not many dealerships where you can do this.
