Can anyone tell me what this is, im having some idle/staling problems and when nosing around under the bonnet I've lifted the engine cover off and found this pipe has split..... anyone know what its purpose is or what it connects to?

The camera is sat above the fusebox/battery looking towards the drivers side...... the circular object at the fore of the picture is visible with the engine cover down, the pipe is covered by the cover (cover is lifted up and on the left of the picture)

cant view the pic due to pc security at work, if its an 8v petrol engine I'm guessing it will be the breather pipe off the air filter box

its off the 16v Chris it looks like a breather but goes from the Inlet manifold by the looks of it to a black plastic Circular item next to the ECU

Yep, split camcover breather/vac hose to inlet manifold. The idle problems are caused by the uncontrolled air leak bypassing the throttle body, had one do this before.

Tape it up with insulation tape for now until you can order a new one.

The one I can see on EPER is just under a tenner.

I taped it up as soon as I noticed it just to be on the safe side, and I did a 40 mile round trip last night with no problems at all!

Saved me a small fortune by not taking it to a garage to find this out, Just going to order a new one now,
