My car is currently on 31k miles. It has a 'FSH' of sorts, in that it had one done at 18k and 31k (recently took ownership from Mazda dealer) but it hasn't been done every year.

I know the cambelt/timing belt isn't due till 72k, but is it worth getting done soon? And how much is it likely to set me back at both Fiat and an independent garage?

How much should it roughly set me back Dave?

And I've seen another thread where you suggest 36k - surely they shouldn't suggest 72k if 36k is better?! And Ford's like on my girlfriends Mk4 Fiesta is 100k!

I had my cambelt and waterpump changed at Fiat 2 days ago on my 1.9MJ and that cost £290 all in. If I wanted just the cambelt it would have been £232.

Fiat was only about £10 more expensive then all the independants I phoned up.

My local Fiat service centre is an Alfa Romeo garage - hope this won't affect the price :D
