Theres definitley more torque, its easier to wheelspin (Had to try), and the sound is now quieter that with it up high in the engine bay.

Better sounding when you can hear it too.

Right!!!

I've cleaned up all the data, removed obvious outliers and heres the results.

I'm more than mildly impressed with myself too :)

Theres a minmal difference between mine and the GSR though I've discovered recently that some of the GSR piping early on in the intake is of a slightly higher diameter than mine.

I've also noticed that the tube into the filter on mine is in a little to far and may be making a lip preventing airflow.

Just want to add to this quickly, theres a couple of considerations I would like to make clear. Firstly, my air filter has done 15,000 miles and is due for changing soon. This will restrict airflow. Secondly, the airflow to the MAF (where the readings are taken from) will be determined by the size of the piping, which in turn is defined by the size of the MAF housing, therefore we can't be far away from achieving maximum airflow to the MAF.

Good job though Sir, with only a little help :p Proof of the pudding will be on an RR :)

Nah, I didn't slice my hand while fitting mine :p Just thought we could do with making some points clear, thats all.

LOL be good to get some sane day airflow and power readings :) GSR is deffo better designed so new filter should see that push ahead.

Hopefully sort a map tweak soon too

Dont think it quite owns a GSR though :) Still, been great fun doing it.

We've also come across a cheap FMIC that we are gonna look to see how much effort it will be to fit.
 
From reading the posts on this and seeing the pics it looks very hard and complicated fitting an induction kit, even if i just got an off the shelf K&N one.

Would a pipercross/ K&N pannel filter have similar results as an induction kit ? Not to worryed about power increases but i would like to hear the engine and turb a bit more.

Will make no difference to the noise I don't think. Easy way of doing it is buying the GSR version of the kit, which is just bolt on. However, its not available at the moment ;)

I agree here, looking and the unneccesary bends and closing of the intake at some points as well as the oversize filter housing I'd say the stock intake is not designed to intake an optimal amount of air but yet to restrict as much noise as possible.

A higher flowing cotton filter make make a tiny bit more suction noise as air is drawn in faster but I wouldn't hold out for it. Performance will also take a slight increase too.
 
K&N are selling an induction kit for the mjet for about £80-£90, have any members used this induction kit and if so any gd ?

By the look of the K&N one it must bolt on before the mass air sensor so it chould be easy to fit.
