Just about every time I pull away the car judders when I lift off the clutch. Sometimes it does it quite violently. Reverse is pretty juddery too. There is no difficulty getting the car into gear. Am a right in assuming this is a problem with the clutch?

It's a 1.4 btw...

Cheers

i had this happen on my 306 and it was the clutch

I had a little bit of juddering when engaging 1st or 2nd. Turned out it was the air inlet pipe to the airfilter flapping about as the half-wit from s**t-fit snapped the little rubber mounting peg during last service.

Hey!

Did you ever got this sorted? What was it? I'm having the exact same problem as you.

Thanks!

Took it to the dealer today to get this sorted and he reckons it's just lack of use. Which kinda' makes sense as it was very bad the first and second day after I got it but it's been a week now and it ok.
He also showed me how to "fix" it.... Just put on the handbrake and engage 1st gear, accelerate as if you want to pull out and take out the clutch slowly to about the middle, see the revs go down but don't let it stall, leave it like that for 2 or 3 seconds.
I did it myself and surprisingly enough, the judder is gone.

Tbh it hasn't got any worse so I have just put up with it. Mine certainly isn't due to lack of use as I do a lot of city driving.

I have managed to adapt my driving style to keep it to a minimum, I don't use the handbrake but almost letting it stall seems to be the smoothest way. However hill starts are still juddery as you need more than 1000 revs

I don't think mine it's lack of use either, it's the same after a month now.

Exact same thing here! It's like, start taking the clutch out without having accelerated and when you feel it's starting to stall then start accelerating smoothly.

my mate had this problem with his 1.2 GP, turned out it was the spark plugs....just a suggestion

Well in my case it's definitely not spark plugs because I can get it "fixed" by stressing the clutch. That is, I would apply the breaks, accelerate and slowly depress the clutch without letting it stall for a few seconds. The problem comes back after a while.

But still it's so weird, it comes and goes. Today I rang the dealer to get it booked so that they can have a look and fix it, and as soon as I hanged up I start driving and it's gone... we'll see tomorrow.

I'm getting this, was sitting in traffic last night...

Went to pull away and it stalled, has done since and also judders unless i really accelerate!

It's a GP Sporting not under warranty 07 1.9

I think it's clutch, exhaust, or turbo - I can't hear it as much anymore!

Took mine to the dealer... after investigation it was diagnosed that there was water leaking into the clutch. Whether this is true or not, I don't care!
They replaced the whole thing and now it's perfect.

I love my car! This GPs are so nice and smooth to drive it's not even funny. I've never driven a car with a clutch so soft and so responsive.

Interesting. Cheers for the info (y)

I was going to suggest looking at the engine / gearbox mounts too. Also look under the car and see if there is any oil on the back of the sump (at the gearbox end of the sump). If there is, it could be that the clutch plate is contaminated. Slipping the clutch with the handbrake on for a few seconds, as described earlier, will burn the oil off the clutch plate and it will be OK for a while until the oil builds up again.
