i took my car to the dealers about water in my tailgate and the bloke said that on 08 cars onwards water was supposed to go in there and come out the rubber bumpstops i argued but to no avail, i can hear it sloshing about when i lift the boot is he really being serious or is he just being a nob like he normally is haha

He's being a bit of a knob... shouldnt be water in the tailgate at all. Plenty of Posts on this in here, try a Search for what people have done to fix it. Then tell him to get it sorted!

i was told that first of all the rubber stops are there so it can drain but i took it back again and they fixed it (touch wood)

Took my 08 dynamic sport in with water in the tailgate the dealer replaced the high level brake light. Not as much gets in now but still some gets in so need to take it back again :bang:

Well I suppose some WILL get in, hence the drain holes as with the doors... But the OP can hear it sloshing aroud so something not quite right there... Mine does about 10 drips after a heavy storm or car washing sesh...

Yea i could hear mine sloshing about before. So do you think that a small amount of ingress is inevitable then ffoxy?!

we had to fix it as the warranty had expired, water was coming in around the wiper spindle in our case

Even boats & ships meant to go in water leak... they have bilge pumps to get the water out, so I accept a small amount of water getting into the cavities of a car, it does drain out in my case as it seems with most others, ususally when the tailgate is opened! But where the water stays in there and sloshes around I think that needs looking at, must be blocked drain holes AND an exessive leak from somewhere. Glass seal, spindle seal, hi-level brake light seal...

along the lines of this thread.....the water issue has now damaged my tailgate lock and i now cannot open the boot with either the remote or dashboard button, i have stripped and cleaned the lock as best i can but to no avail...warranty has expired so...can anyone advise me where to get a new tailgate lock apart from a main fiat dealer as it'll prob cost about £4000 fom them lol....ta

Yes just got the same problem leak in tailgate found it was top brake light seal ,reseal problem fixed
