I am in the process of looking to change my March 08 T Jet. It currently has 5800 miles to its name and seems to have lost an extraordinary amount in less than 2 years.

Looking at the on line price guides the retail value in Mar 08 was c£12600 and the trade value is now c£6500 - £7100 depending on which site you use. :bang::bang::bang:
That is one hell of a loss for less than 2 years old and such low mileage.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I know well that most cars depreciate but in Mar 08 I must have done extremely well as I only lost £2400 on the prvious GP which was 2 years old and a 1.4 Dynamic.

Ah well that's the price for Fiat's recent aggressive marketing and discounting, I suppose is one reason.

I spoke to a few dealers about trading mine in, the values were very low, as mine had done 'high' miles (41k). Mine was up at a dealer for £6055 and it sold quickly though. I reckon they get to a point where a higher mileage GP is worth % wise a fair bit less than a Ford or Renault or something with the same miles, whereas a low mile one will still be worth % wise pretty much the same as the other brands. Its still the Fiat quality issue that the trade dont like once they are up on the miles a bit.

I'm considering selling my t jet soon... i actually thought the prices were reasonably good. I went on auto trader to check out similar models and they are selling for more than what i paid for my car last april (i bought mine with 10000 miles on the clock on a 57 plate). Don't part exchange it, you will get nothing for it. Sell it privately or even consider using webuyanycar.com because they gave me a great quote.

Well, I've just tried the website mentioned and they came back with a figure of £6500

Anyone give me £8000 cash and its yours..... I'm serious. Still got a few months of the 2 yr warranty left plus the option of year 3. It also has the year 2 AA cover on it as well. FiatFSH. Mudflaps plus painted in body colour underneath.
I don't think you would find such a low mileage car for that on any forecourt.

Any takers..................

lower models and diesel engines are what the public want when buying a second hand car. The t- jet is going to appeal to far fewer people due to running cost reasons therefore values would be lower. I brought my jun 07 plate 1.9 m jet elegenza in december 07 with 2200 miles on it. Paid 8700 for it. Having covered 23000 miles in it now in ammaculate condition i could get 7000 for it private which is not bad at all.

You cant complain, im currently looking for a 2nd hand Tjet and most are around £8000 for a good low mileage trade example which i think is very expensive! You can get a new one online for £9000!

Well, she's gone on ebay this morning for £xxx. I had a look at Autotrader and there were some 08 T Jets with more miles from around £8500 through to £8995. So at £xx with all the warranty and FSH and the mileage mine looks a bargain, if if I say so myself:yum:

When i traded in my T-Jet for my Abarth they gave me 8995 for it. Had covered about 10k. They put it up for sale at exactly the same price and it sold for that. Although i don't know if the Linea grille and wheels helped lol
