Hi,

I'm hoping that some one can help me, I have a 56 plate 1.3 Grande Punto diesel. It was running fine until I went offshore for 3 weeks and there was some pretty bad weather which consisted of a lot of rain and wind, now the car will start but immediately cuts out as soon as it offers to run. I can't help thinking that this fault is related to the rain and think that it may be an immoiliser fault?? I was playing about with it in the drive earlier trying a few things to get it to start and noticed that when the headlights are on, the passenger side light doesn't come on any more but the sidelight and indicator come on (indicator stays on rather than blinking) although when the lights are off the indicator works as it should. Any ideas??:bang:

Thanks for any help you may be able to offer.

Thanks, Does that mean that if I were to remove the one under the glovebox and dry it out in the house, it should start up again or will it need replaced?

I don't suppose you have breakdown cover do you? green flag are cheap if you don't.

If you do have cover you could always try calling them and see what they say, but as you're posting here i'm guessing you probably don't have breakdown cover (y)

think it's better to see a dealer, when you have electrical problems and you go messing about yourself, and something catches fire you don't get any money from the insurance company i think?

theres a 2nd fuse box in the engine bay

(cant see how water has got into it though...

Ignore the arrow thats showing the fag lighter fuse

if the imobiliser is at fault the CODE light will stay on (yellow padlock symbol on instrument binnacle )

The immobiliser light is going out, the only other thing might be something to do with the fuel?? Is there a reset button for these cars? Battery is fully charged and its still not keen to run. I've been out with the hair drier trying to dry out the fuseboxes in the engine bay and the one behind the glove box but still no sucess, im really hoping to sort this one as it will cost a fortune to get it to the local fiat dealer as ill have to get them to collect it!

thanks for all your help so far.

on my petrol active there is a ineria switch in the drivers foot well (door side) little hole in the trim and a rubber dimple at the bottom of the hole...

and others have to be done like this:

The following procedure should be carried
out to restore the correct operation
of the vehicle:
❒ turn the ignition key to MAR;
❒ activate the right-hand indicator;
❒ deactivate the right-hand indicator;
❒ activate the left-hand indicator;
❒ deactivate the left-hand indicator;
❒ activate the right-hand indicator;
❒ deactivate the right-hand indicator;
❒ activate the left-hand indicator;
❒ deactivate the left-hand indicator;
❒ turn the key to STOP

Hi,

Tried the above for resetting the fuel but no luck, there is not a button either that i can find but the car still starts and immediately cuts out when i try it. If i try to bump start it in the drive it sounds like it may run for a tiny bit longer (or maybe i'm just hoping!) but so far ive had no sucess getting it repaired. I've been onto my local Fiat dealer who also sound like they are confused but are happy to come and collect it and spend hours looking over it at my expense! Any other ideas, or will i have to give in to the stealers?

Thanks,
