Technical Catch Tank

Oily fumes go from the breather hose on the rocker cover into the throttle body where they are burnt.

Generally bad as they tend to gum everything up after a bit. Take the breather hose off to check!!

Catch tank literally catches the oil out of the fumes and gives you cleaner air into your throttle body.

Result better combustion and cleaner engine/less engine wear/better mpg.

Drifitng application is in case you pressurise your sump and the oil goes everwhere lol:yum:

Catch tanks are normally fitted to dry-sump engines such as those found in Drift cars. Any advantage they may give to a low mileage/capacity/power, regularly serviced family hatchback will be negligable....other than add a bit of bling!. A point reinforced by the fact that no manufacturer fits them as standard to their run of the mill engines.

If oily fumes are becoming a problem and affecting the way the engine runs shouldnt you be looking for the root cause and attempting to prevent it at source......... rather than fitting a catch tank?

Engine runs fine as I said in another post I'm a bit of a geek for fine tuning engine efficiency.

I'm planning a catch tank, iridium plugs, high efficiency oil filter, and a magnetic filter trap so far.:) On the plus side it save cleaning out the throttle body every so often.(y)

"fine tuning" If your talking nano performance improvements start by ripping out your backs seat and anything else that weighs more than 2grams. or..... not worry about it and save your money. you dont "need" a catcher and you wont notice any difference when you get it. Money better spend in your pocket but thats just my opinion.

Don't forget to have a sh*t before setting off on your journey too.

As i alwys do!

Anyway, you don't have to modify the car, you just have to change your driving style!

With all these "I am gonna do this" and "I am gonna do that threads" there is a risk of you becoming another......errr.....you-know-who :D

Erm no... Always best to ask for advice first though at the risk of getting flamed. Since the alternator already adjusts the charge load I don't have to do anything and the start stop thing seems to be a no go either.

If I find out things are viable then I will do them(y)

I think its pretty safe to assume that Fiat in their infinate wisdom will have taken every practical and reasonable step possible to ensure their designs attain the maximum mpg before releasing them for sale. If by "bolting on" some cheap accessory or by carrying out some cheap mod any beneficial increase is obtained they would be doing it themselves.........it is after all in their own interest to.
