I don't remember having this problem to such an extent with my last GP (active, no aircon). It's become particulary acute this week with he colder, wetter weather.

Sometimes it is so bad it has been running down the windscreen and I've had to wipe it down with a microfibre cloth rather than just a quick wipe with the demisting pad. The problem seems to happen all round the car but is mostly at the windscreen.

Running the climate control with the AC on helps but I don't think I should have to have it running all the time - especially when its just cold outside not wet. The other morning when I went to work the inside of the windscreen was more frozen over than the outside!

The issue isn't helped by the fact that the vents below the windscreen miss the bottom and blow onto the glass about 1/3 way up.

I've looked around for any sign of a leak but the carpets and headlining appear to be dry and there isn't any musty smell usually associated with a leak.

Does this sound familiar and juts a GP trate or does it sound like there is a fault somewhere?

Will try the closing vents. Should I stick it on recirculate as well?

Do you mean the general coolant (pink stuff) or is there some tank for the AC unit I should check?
Radiator coolant level is fine - was out checking the levels earlier today.

recirculate...yes good idea. I used to have to do this years ago in a datsun violet SSS (showing my age now!) I wonder if it affects cars with a very sloping screen compared to that of a doblo or something?

I don't have the severe problems you have but during the winter when I drag in dampness on my shoes and so on, I always leave the front windows open about 1cm during the day (I park underground at work).

This does wonders for "drying out" the car.

If I could trust people I'd open them a bit more but as some small little supermarket says, "Every little helps"!

Also, make sure you don't have the recirculate button accidentally pushed in (as I did for a few days and wondered why it kept steaming up) - on an Astra I hasten to add which had a pathetically dim light on the switch so was easily missed.

A definate problem with my last GP - No A/C

When I went for this one A/C was a must if I had gone for a model without it as standard.

silica gel you get it in shoe boxes when you buy shoes, leave in your cupholder, used to use it in my civic never had a problem with too much condensation on windscreen.

hmm odd, didn't have any steaming up issues today (cold but dry outside)

test will come later in the week when the forecast is for more rain

thanks for the replies

It only seems to be a problem when it rains (y)

Can't you tell i have the problem, and it's really bad at times, not mention damn annoying. Mine is also mainly the front windscreen.

I mentioned it to Forward Autos when it went in for a service, was advised it's the thingy filter (sorry can't remember what it's called lol - the one to do with aircon) so they replaced it, but problem has returned now the rainy season is upon us.

Make sure vents are closed before you get out as this can help otherwise its quite normal (check coolant level incase of heater matrix leak) more so in some cars than others.

T .... just a quicky... better change that sig :D, can't have the forums top man making spelling mistakes can we (y)

 Just thought i'd report back on condensation problem, or rather lack of at the moment. Having just been out in the car, and it's been raining in Liverpool for a few hours now  Strange that's all i can say.

Interesting though, i did notice that my heater vents were shut.

having the recirculation ON causes windows to mist up, so turn that off, I have no problems with mine, and T mentioned the Doblo, there is no difference between the car and van, screen rake has nothing to do with it :)
