Technical Loud clunkin, noise coming from left rear

iya yeah i was 2months into my motor mechanics course then i had a bad crash an missed over a month of work in college,,,so unfortunatly this wasnt good enough an i had been finished up. my cars warrenty runs out 29th nov 09, so i'm just intime eh lol..i will tell the guys at fiat that i have had it looked at an think it could possibly be the drop links or the rear dampers..car eh...bloody nusance they are hahaha x

oops did you crash the Punto or was it another car?

still if its under warranty let them fix it

yeah last november i crashed it,,a toyota rav4 slammed into the drivers sids an made a loverly mess..lol x

Take it STRAIGHT to your dealer, don't pass go and DON'T collect £200.

It MAY be the brass bushes on the anti-roll bar. That's what my dealer is replacing, so noise MAY be fixed next week if it is.

Unfortunately, some (and I mean some) noises in cars are VERY tricky to pinpoint due to the metal construction and acoustic nature of a motor vehicle. Sometimes those knocks and ratttles that sound like they are on the left and towards the front, SOMETIMES originate from the rear.

<Strange but true>, and I would have to assume that in your case it is a sound emminating from the back.

PS With the boot being open you'd get more road noise wouldn't you?
Anyway, like I said, it's only just another option/comment that perhaps you could ask your dealer about?!??

NB I have been told that MOT's do not require a road test, so don't assume (like I did) that they must have spotted it themselves!!!

Thats why garages have 4-way microphone kits to pinpoint the noise;)

i had the same issue in my new GP 1.4 active only 150 miles on the clock when it started took it to the dealer on monday just gone and it turned out to be one of the rear springs was bent and rubbing against the brake shoes or something along those lines

well guys...i took it the dealers today (seftonstreet, liverpool) an they took it out for a spin an they couldnt hear nothin..so they ask me to go out with a guy an still they couldnt hear the noise,,,then another guy came out with me an he said he could hear somethin but not sure what it was...so they check everythin underneath, the drop links where fine, the shocks where fine an exhaust was fine...the car is solid!!

First of all they thought it was the boot latch but they seen i had already dealt with that by leccy tape an vaseline ..they sed there is definatly nothin wrong with the car, they sed that if it is still doin it they would have to take the roll bar off or somethin an grease it...but then it might not even be that...so i got me keys an drove away.

its still doin it ,,an right now i just cant be arsed anymore..my car is a hypocondriac(cant spell the effin word)..even the garage i took it to before the dealers couldnt find nowt wrong.
its puzzlin an it'll have to stay like that!

Crap dealer IMO, take it somewhere else & ask for the DET to come out with you, take him somewhere you know the blo*dy thing rattles.

its goin for a service next friday an i'm gonna ask the guys to check the left rear brakeshoe..if it aint that...then fcuk it cant be arsed anymore lol..

clair try taking the plastic boot liner off (on the boot lid)

(one screw in grab handle) then many plastic snap fit pegs stick your finger in a corner and give it a good yank (just take care near the boot lock mechanism)

take the car for a spin without it

(tape the cables to teh body work too)

(just a suggestion but im sure thats where mine is rattling from)

well guys i took it the garage an we took the struts off an it wasnt those,,they guy took the rear wheels off an checked the brakes and couldnt find nowt wrong with'em, checked again underneath an nowt!!!!!! might try takin the plastic part off the boot door tomorra,,but seriously i cant be bothered anymore...i'm past carin now. hahaha

Hey i've just had a thought!

Anyone remember that old VW add? I think it was for the golf!

Check your earrings lol

Tray another dealers, i've been to quite a few and found Forward autos in St Helens to be the best.

Don't give up, you'll find the problem eventually (y)
