Hi, as my car is out of warranty now (and a fiat, lol) Im thinking of getting that warranty direct thing. they have quoted me £22.71 a month for their "major care policy" which is the smaller of the two packages and is for getting work done at a "network" garage not a franchised dealer. So basically the cheapest of the lot, it covers:

ENGINE
Cylinder head
Cylinder head gasket
Valves (excluding decarbonisation, burnt or pitted valves and valve seats)
Valve springs
Valve guides
Camshaft and bearings
Cam followers
Hydraulic lifters
Push rods and rocker gear
Timing gears
Chains
Belts and tensioners
Pistons
Piston rings
Cylinder liners and linear seals
Connecting rods and bearings
Gudgeon pins
Crankshaft and bearings
Oil pump and oil pump drive
Distributor drive gear
Distributor drive
Flywheel and ring gear
Flex plate/auto drive plate
Inlet and exhaust manifolds

TURBOCHARGER
Internal failure of factory fitted turbocharger and wastegate.

GEAR BOX: MANUAL AND AUTOMATIC

Anyone know if this wise or has any reviews of them? seems ok to me for piece of mind, but do they have a maximum times you can use them or an excess?

Ah well I phoned them up and they gave me the extra care cover which covers alot more and 0 excess for £26 a month so i just went for it. Its a monthly policy so your not tied in and it cover just about everything.

Air conditioning compressor pump, condenser, electronic control unit, sensors, magnetic clutch and valves, evaporator and reservoir, fan control and sensors.

ELECTRICS
Internal failure of the starter motor, alternator, regulator, distributor, windscreen wiper motor and tailgate wiper motor, heating fan motor, cooling fan motor, horn, central locking solenoids and motors, electric window motors and sunroof motors, electric door mirror motors and aerial motors, front and rear windscreen washer motors, headlamp adjuster motors, cruise control unit, relays, rev counter, radiator cooling fan, indicator flasher unit.

CASINGS
Casings are covered provided they have been damaged as a result of failure of an insured part or by the consequential damage of an insured part failing.

OIL LEAKS
Notwithstanding exclusion 11 of the policy, this covers the cylinder head gasket and seal or gasket replacement that necessitates the removal of the engine, gearbox/drive unit and drive shafts or differential unit to carry out repairs.

BODYWORK
Tailgate suspension struts.
Only the components originally fitted as standard by the manufacturer are covered unless agreed in writing by us.
 
I have a WD policy but with Main Dealer option as for me the nearest "Network Garage" is AA Nationwide Automessers. Who i have a distinct problem with paying any money to anymore, more so than Kwik S**t
 
Did you check where your nearest "network garage" is? I had a policy with a company and their network was shocking! Mine was several miles away and they were a backstreet outfit with a load of chavved up wrecks. Looked to be a breaker's yard thrown in for good measure.

Don't wish to worry you or that, of course!

I am looking at one with WarrantyWise, which is endorsed by that weasel, Quentin. That said, it seems less complicated as you can pay the garage directly, which means some are less likely to refuse to fix your car because they can't be ar5ed to wait for their money from the warranty company.

They do a lot of carping on about how their policies are more comprehensive too.
 
WD let you pay directly and claim back, or can use their corporate credit card to pay the garage over the phone.

Or obviously if its in their "Network" then they invoice direct less any excess they squeeze from you.

Bloody hell i'm paying £33.86 a month for the same policy:mad:
 
You dont have to take it to a "network garage" they will cover the cost at any garage you choose up to £40 an hour for labour.

£40 an hour for labour is not much. My local FIAT dealer has a business rate of £82 an hour! But that said, I am sure the policy will cut a significant chunk off of any repair cost. I hope that you are happy with it and that nothing goes wrong with your car in the first place!
 
And in 3 months down the line when my turbo blows how far is £90+interest going to get me?

it depends on your car but is a well maintained car going to suddenly die in 3 months? (unless you know you have a problem IE your turbo is currently making a funny noise)

its a chance you take like these gas care plans where you pay £10 a month to "insure" your boiler now ours is 15 years old so you do the maths and work out how much we have saved (it has had one repair that cost £50 in that time)


I bet they have loads of small print to wade through as well

so if you have opted for it go though it with a real fine tooth comb

lets face it these insurance company's wouldn't do it if they were loosing money hand over fist ;)

Your right its a gamble true and ive never had it with any other cars ive owned but quite frankly i dont trust this car, lol. In the year i had it with the dealer warranty it must have been in the dealers getting new and expensive parts 6 or 7 times, in one year! so why should that stop. I think (and to some extent guess) that the £26 a month which tbh i wont miss and is less than my gym or phonebill. is going to save a lot of big cash expenses on parts and labour (and the piece of mind).(y)
 
So let me get this straight... paying £26 a month, which seems ok. But then shoving another 30 squid a month in a savings account?

Nice £56 a month policy someone would have there lol.

The reason I bought this cover is because of the never-ending issues of my car, hence I opted for peace of mind.

This is what an insurance policy is all about guys. Some people lose, others win, the bottom line is that if you cannot afford replacing a broken turbo that has taken the engine with it, then you are better off with an insurance policy that covers all that. Otherwise, if you have enough funds to pay for a big repair, or your car has been faultless during manufacturer's warranty period, then I concede you are better off taking a risk and save up!

Can't see the reason putting £30 a month in a savings account though. The interest paid is negligible, 2-3% at most, peanuts.

Do Fiat dealer not charge like £80 an hour???
 
Used these on my last car before gp, 51 plate focus didn't have to claim anything during policy life of 3yrs total (y)probably paid them about a grand all told ,but the car was well maintained and serviced so really just paid for PEACE OF MIND.
