Hi

Does anyone know (or in-the-know) if the new Punto Evo tail lights will fit the Grande Punto? I assume they're the same dimensions as the body of the car has not changed, but will the wiring remain the same?

Thanks for any help

Steve

I don't know yet, but check this out, the wiring for the headlights between series 1 and 2 is different. My guess is that the evo's will be different also ( not that that will be a problem;)).

Yes, i should imagine the wiring will be slightly different for the Evo's Lights, but I'm sure there will be a way around it LOL

series 1 and series 2 have the same wiring for the rear lights. now,for the evo i quess that thay will be different because of the rear leds. by the way if you find a way to connect them i think that there will be a buzzer for a blown bulb because of the led.the evo will definitely have an updated body computer for the leds.it is not like the aftermarket led for the series 1,2 that have intergraded resistors in them.

Does anybody know if these will: a) fit on a Grande Punto b) just plug and play?

I have priced them up from FIAT and will cost about £200. Only problem is that I cant return them as they will be coming straight from Italy.

Just got an advertising mail from FIAT about the Evo. It states that the car has LED headlights. Is this correct? If so it's the first that I'm aware of.
I was recently given a small (13cm long, 2cm diameter) Ultrafire LED torch and the light output is stunning for such a small piece of kit. So much so that if the beam catches you full in the eye at close range you have to flinch and look away to avoid having a big blind spot for several minutes. The light source itself seems to be about 3mm square!

Maybe running lights.

Ah yes, that could be it. I look forward to proper LED headlights in place of the current alternatives, though one good thing about inefficient bulbs is that the heat they produce keeps the lenses nicely clear in the snow :)

ive seen 2 evos now at my dealer. 1 a dynamic and the othe a GP and i couldnt see any LED lighting in the front...... just a normal capless side light... one thing i did notice today when i was there is they have a spare bulb (where the indicator is on a series 1&2) looks as if it has high beam assist or something ??

The EVO rear lights will physically fit but do have different wiring. IIRC the plug is different and as already stated has an extra feed for the LED strips. As with all things, if you have the patience (and perhaps money) it can be rewired. I'd imagine at the very least you'd need to run your own DRL feed (I'm guessing they're DRL as haven't seen them working on a car yet).

they coyuld be the corner lights, apparantly when you go around a corner under 25mph these corner lights come on so you can see the kerb.

Get used to it as its new EU law that is going through soon. Sidelights/DRL will be on all the time. Why wouldnt you like your lights to be on all the time anyway? Makes you more obvious to people so decreases the chance of you having an accident.

i dont know, but in the day they dont look right. its like having ur lights on in ur house all day long. and whoever cant see another car in day without its lights on shudnt be driving haha:D

Body Computer will likely be different (or at least have different software) to handle the LED's. Fitting EVO lights to a earlier model will likely result in "bulb failure" messages at the very least.

i thought that.. but there too high up for that.. the turning thing will be the fog surely ?? (like the bravo)

Since 2005 when i passed my test ive always driven round with my headlights on... never been bumped into yet :D but always think its safer to do so :)

yeah they are fog lights the turning ones. perhaps they christmas lights, and in december fiat hq press a button and all those lights on the punto evos come on haha

i have both a grande punto and the abarth punto evo, its not as simple as just plug and play with the lights, the actual screw holes are set at differnt hights and the surround it slightly larger on the evo. same with the front lights.
