First off i'd just like to say hello :)

I have recently brought a re-mapped JTD (130) Diesel Grande Punto.

Today there was a big drop in power and a loud whistling noise from the turbo. Oncloser inspection the hose had come off of the turbo outlet. I'm guessing its due to the increased boost.

I re-fitted the pipe with a new jubilee clip (the other one had gone). When we revved the engine all was good but i did notice the boost pipe swell/expand when the turbo was on boost, is this normal? Or is there another problem such as the pressure not being released?

Also has anyone come across a silicone pipe to replace this?

Sorry for all the questions, help appreciated.

Cheers

Lee...if the turbo was knackered your pipes would not swell up...when knackered it looses pressure and performance ,in extreme cases you would get white smoke due to turbine failure!!

Replacing the hoses with thicker pipes reduces the swell but if they have no damage and have no oil contamination they should be ok...there are a lot of cars with this type of hose...not great but works!

You will notice this more with a remap as unlike the original map which introduces boost more gradually the remap increases boost much earlier.

Hi Mate,

Thanks for your response, I'm 99% sure that the turbo is fine. This is predominantly my girlfriends so i'm not used to any new noises etc. I had a bit of pipe swell on my Leon Cupra R after I had it mapped and updated the OEM hoses with forge one's. Unfortunately forge don't do any hoses for the Grande Punto JTD yet.

I'll give the car a drive now the pipe is back on and make sure all is ok, before I let her drive it again. The pipe was fine, it just had the clip missing.

It must of happened before as this pipe has different type of julilee clips to the rest of the car.

I have installed better jubilee clips now so it should hold on better.

Once again thanks for your help. :)

turbo knackered!

Hi Mate,

I think the turbo is good as it boosts up fine, no noise now the boost pipe is back on.

Map was done by Celtic Tuning. It seems very smooth, not aggresive. My girlfriend drives the car more than me so it never gets any stick.

To compare: I did drive a standard one whilst we were looking for a Grande Punto JTD and my one seems to pull much stronger. :)

Cheers

Think ur spot on, why not ask forge if they fancy fabricating one? Think it would defiently be a good seller with the amount of mapped mjets on here... Keep us updated :)
