Bought 07 plate GP from a Vauxhall dealers 3 weeks ago with 12000 miles on the clock. Finding the car excellent, but wondering about the warranty, the car was seviced by them on the 19th Jan. That been the first service at about 17 months. Would the fact that this service was late effect the 3rd year warranty and do I need to register the change with

I guess as usual be wary and try and work out if it has been done, i got mine from a Hyundai dealer who turned out hadn't serviced it when they said. I queried why the oil was black so soon and had them provide their purchase order for the parts. Turned out the mechs had order old punto 1.9td parts from their factors found they were wrong and whizzed them away.

Had it serviced properly by FIAT at their expense.

If you have the book with the stamps in, near the back is a voucher to send off with a check, or pop into FIAT.

I bought my GP at just over 2 years old from a Honda dealer, with just over 12,000 miles on the clock. There were no service stamps in the book, so I got them to service it before I bought it.

As everything I'd read suggested the lack of a full service history would void the Fiat/dealer warranty, I also got a deal on a year's warranty from the Honda dealer.

However, when I needed to use this warranty a month or so after I bought the car, the Honda dealer talked to the Fiat dealer, and they said they'd honour the warranty unless it was something which may have been affected by the lack of servicing.

There was a stupid delay while the change of ownership was registered with Fiat, but it got sorted out eventually.

So, now I have a (partial?) Fiat dealer warranty for another month or so, and then a further year's warranty with the Honda garage.
