Hey, sorry if this seems like a daft question but..

I have a grande punto, 1.2, and I have one of those electronic keys, how many times do you have to press the lock the doors button to lock AND alarm the car? Does it do it on first press or do you need to do it twice?

I know with some other cars you need to press the button twice, once to lock, and again to alarm, and have been doing this with my grande punto, but I don't want to be wasting the key battery if this is unneccesary!

If anyone knows, I'm be grateful!

Thanks in advance!

Don't worry about the daft questions we have rolf ;)

Now i'm assuming you have a 1.2 active or Dynamic as standard they don't have an alarm and dependent on age some don't have "double locking"...

Double locking AKA Dead locks prevent the local hoodie scum breaking the glass reaching inside and unlocking the doors...

one press locks the car and you get one flash from the indicators..

a double press locks the car and activates the deadlocks (if fitted) you hear the locks clunk shut then again you hear another dull thud as the dead locks kick in and the indicators flash three times

give us chance and i'll try to get a video up to explain (in a drunken Yorkshire accent)

Edit video now on youtube see 2 posts down:

Thanks Andy for that video and the reply, not been on here since my original post to thank you any sooner!!

I do have an active model, 07 plate, and I don't think I have the deadlocking, which I'm a bit miffed about!

So it sounds like I don't have an alarm as standard either? (I know so much about my car!) I thought I did, best let the insurance company know!

Thanks for your help!

You must have read my mind, I was just going to ask about an imobiliser!
I do have deadlocks, It took 5 minutes of locking and unlocking the doors to find out, so if that's any help to any other Active 07 owners :)

The immobilizer works by having a microchip in the key this communicates with the cars computer by an antenna just behind the plastic trim where you put the key if the car recognizes the signal it gets back it will start the car when you turn the key to Mar you get a little yellow light (pic of car with a padlock through it showing the system is active) if this light stays on you have a fault with the immobilizer

Andy, You should start a Grande Punto Blue Peter Show! lol Show us all the tricks of the trades! I just went out and check and I got dead locks! Just went out and checked and I got dead locks. Bloody FREEZING! -5

For my next trick i will show how to refit the dash trim with a fairy liquid bottle and a roll of sticky back plastic :p

Mine has deadlocks and an alarm, particulaly funny when you lock the G/F in and press the fob twice so the deadlocks and alarm are activated, the alarm goes off and she has no way of getting out at all
