Styling Alternative to LED sidelights

Cheers Mate.(y)

Just brought Side lights, Indicator bulbs and headlights hopefully they will just be a straight fit and a 5 min jobby...

Good luck with 5 mins lol....took my bout 15 mins to change the bloody passenger side headlight on its own, very fiddly and frustyrating at times....i was however doing it in the dark

I got a pair of MTEC sidelights today and they definitely are blue, but they are not very bright at all. I know that the blue means that they will be a bit less bright but the standard sidelight is quite a bit brighter.

Did other people find this?

are they really blue and obviously blue when not lit? i really want some HID effect lights but hate the blue look when not on and also if they are just really blue but not very bright at night. i know there is millions of threads but as everybody is talking about it thought i would jump in and ask lol

after readin up on the forum i think osram nightbreakers are best, i just literally 5 minutes ago ordered some off ebay for £13.30 with delivery

The bulbs are really small so you dont really notice that they are blue. When the sidelights were on by themselves they looked pretty blue, but look alright when headlights are on, i'll get some photon on in a minute. I just though that they would be a bit brighter than they are.

Osram nightbreakers are meant to be good, but I got some £4 blue bulbs from Lidl after recommendations on the forum and they are awesome for the price.

I have just ordered some Philips Blue Vision sidelights to see how they compare with the MTEC ones

Some MoT stations are now failing cars with blue tinged lights. No consistency between testing stations but I saw an article about a guy with a new type Mini (obv +3yrs old) who suffered that way.

Just a thought for when MoT time comes up.

This is true the mechanic carrying out the MOT on my corsa was going to fail the car for having blue side lights...good job i had origionals in the boot!!

He said the rules say they must test for white light with anything else been a fail.
He also showed me the results on the headlight calibration unit and the bulbs were also scattering the light which causes them to dazzle other drivers.

Good thread, been looking for a topic like this. Im looking to change the main h/lights and sidelights on my m-jet. Is it at easy to change them as on the punto mk2?...and what set would be best to go for?....(im looking for them to be a straight fit too..lol)

So is there a chance that they could still fail even if they are E-marked, like the philips blue vision side lights?

Thats why this is controversial, no dismantling at MoT time so no chance they will see the "E" mark. Its left to individual Testers to decide, its inconsistent.

This thread is 2 years old, but yes they are.

To be honest though I paid £1.99 off eBay for some cheap white side lights, got Halfords home brand excellence bulbs and a cheap version of the silvertech indicator bulbs (again £1.99 off eBay) and the results are great:

Are the MTEC sidelights now £3.99? There aren't any for £4.99..
Are these the exact ones? 'MTEC SUPER WHITE 501 W5W XENON EFFECT BULBS SIDELIGHTS' Yours look good!
