Hi all! has anyone the ideea what is the end float fot camshaft on 1,4 8v ?
I found it at 0,6 mm which is in my oppinion double than permisive.
Italians don't give a value in technical site. if anyone has a disansambled oneplease check it. Error is P0340 camshaft sensor (signal out of grafic).
Everything else was verified (less parasite signals).

0.6mm does sound high compared to the figures for the 1.2 which is basically the same head.

Although saying that, Dealers are well aware of a Service bulletin regarding the 1.4 8v coming up with P0340 and some cars were recalled as well. It involves checking the tappet cover is mounted correctly to ensure the air gap between the camshaft and sensor is within spec using a special tool- a Dealer job only.

Im aware of that, beeing technical adviser for Fiat dealer. Problem is that 0,9 of gap will become 0,3 when end float is consuming. As I found no value for end float in FIAT tech site, and at that moment I did't had another with same engine, I asked... . Anyway, now looked on others and the value was around 0,2-0,3mm. With 0,6 of end float it rebuilds very hard the VVT self adaptive grafic (80 to 100 km) and on rail cross sometimelights the MIL with P0340. Now even the possiblility of parasite signals is checked. Only the end float could be for now. New head, same rimed channel, new camshaft they don't want to give.......

Then why haven't the Dealer or yourself contacted Fiat Technical?

Much quicker (and more reliable) than posting on a Forum where very few people have pulled apart a 1.4 8v.

Cause is quicker asking Budda ! Anyway, problem was the camshaft disk for end float which was 4,8mm thick instead of 5,4 or 5,5mm. Layout problem.
