P'eed off

Hi peeps
I posted a thread recently about a leaking washer bottle.
Well i took it the fiat dealership and they put a sealant arount the rubber grommet( black rubber washer) at base of the neck and i just kept my eye on it. Low and behold its still leaking so i took the neck of the bottle off and dried it then put good quality sealant around it and left it for a good 8hrs then i filled it up to the top of the neck and can back in 4hrs to check and its leaking even more. grrrrrrrr i'm sooo p****ed off right now. Any tip please guy on how to fix it pleaseeee! Is it an important issue or should i worry? Does it need a new grommat (black rubber washer)?

Re: P'eed off

I'd certainly replace the Grommet

check where the seal mates with the bottle and neck there is no bits of protruding plastic left from the moulding process

you should be able to get the part number from eper (but it seems to be playing silly buggers at the moment (its on the menu bar 4th option in from Forum)

Re: P'eed off

Hi its hard to say where its leaking from.. Its either under the grommet(around the base of the grommet) or from the top of the grommet. Its really annoying . I know its only the washer bottle and not all that important but its really gettin me goat now . I tried clicking on the link thing of where you told me to get the number for the part but its takin ages loadin.

Re: P'eed off

what sealant did you use exactly?

You really want a High Modulus Silicone Sealant

Re: P'eed off

waste of time putting sealer on it, it needs a new grommet which I think comes as a complete washer bottle tank.

Re: P'eed off

HI again,
I've learnt that to replace the windscreen washer bottle ya have to take the front bumper off and also the wheel arch. sooo i think as this is an unimportant thing i would rather get a vg quality sealant and do it myself. i just dont like the fact of all the work involved in just replacing the windscreen washer bottle.

yep i know what ya mean - ive been there - took my GP to my local FIAT dealer for new carpets not long after i got the car as water was coming in somehow, anyway they replaced the carpet under warranty which was great but the car came back with 1/ a scratch on the sill and 2/ a damaged quarter light rubber (they admitted they must have spilt a chemical on it which buggered it up) so the car went back in for a replacement quarter light seal.....!

I read many posts about similar problems with people taking their cars in for services or repairs inn it coming out worse off !!!
Suppose you gotta make your own choices eh !
