She should be proud. People don't haggle enough, I remember when recently buying my new laptop, but that another story

Re: 1st service cost for a 1.9 GP

we all have a margin for movement on services. menu price is fixed as such but on menu price they have a MPC which is the minimum they can do it for and make money.

if u do UNDER 10k for first year u can do low mileage u dont have to do 18k service and thats no where near 300, with diesel it also depends whether u have air con and DPF! myself i ignore the dpf because if u come in at 8k and have a service and u have dpf u could leave and 10 mins later need oil change. diesels with dpf system says low mileage service is around 140 without aircon but they DONT CHANGE OIL! hence why u should have it done same time and get dpf reset

T, with respect, this is part of the problem Fiat owners have with the Dealers (JDPower survey) The status quo has to change, cheap cars cant be expensive to service. Either charge more for the cars or less for the Servicing I say. Value for money this definitely isnt.

Re: 1st service cost for a 1.9 GP

i agree to an extent but dealers do have to make money especially seeing as car sales make very little out of the cars. the money is in kick backs from hitting car sale targets. i mean our dealer sold 13 vans recent losing £50 per van.

parts can often be the costing as grande parts at the minute are very high. brake pads are high compared to 188 puntos near double in fact!

dealers try to help c/m (some do) like we discount servicing if asked if car brought from us. bout c/m loyalty, everyone moans about prices but dealers are more inclined to help if u use them regular when a problem does arise. say if i had one courtesy car available and joe bloggs1 and joe bloggs2 come in with gearbox failure but one never been here and one here all the time who am i likely to help out? remember courtesy cars are not belonging to fiat but the dealer. its all about going that extra yard for loyalty.

All my dealers regulars get well looked after and new customers do too but i will always go that extra yard for regulars, eg c/m cant get here til 7pm so organise a way of c/m collecting car or cars broke down appt 3 weeks away but tow it in we'll look earlier.

why do i do this??? because our custom is important and people who show us loyalty get it returned and im sure all dealers are the same. i even phone fiat on c/m behalf! collect cars for servicing on way to work and drop back to show how much i appreciate custom!

many dealers however dont have this level of commitment. 8-6pm then switch off!

Raise the product quality and the price of the cars then just as Skoda have done amongst other "value" brands. Fiat is kidding itself it is a value brand doing stunts with "kickbacks for volume" when Customers are unhappy... And note Customers (capital C) not c/m... ALL Customers have value, some day the regular Customers will leave the area or die, then why should New Customers come to you? It really doesnt cut it to bleat about losses per unit, that has to change fundamentally, as does "discount servicing" I was offered £100 off (my £380 bill) for a 30k mile service. Thats still way too much IMO so I went independent for £180 and a Service in full accordance with Fiat guidelines using quality parts, I did lose out on the Examiner check though.

Re: 1st service cost for a 1.9 GP

Need to boycot them. They are well over priced. Somewhere it stated that it only costs £45 for parts, so why so much for labour!?

I got quotes £240, eventually got them to £120.

I'd done 18,500

Whatever.... Examiner costs Dealers how much to buy and run? If its zillions of £££'s then the dealer organisation should sort that out, not just blindly pass the cost on to Customers. The world is becoming economically more competitive. Why should Services cost more on a new vehicle....? The bits have been around donkeys years for the MJet engine as has the lube and antifreeze etc.... its a cashcow... and the Dealer network is milking it dry.

annual service cant be done unless u do UNDER 10k per year, 18 service is then required or in ur case 36k service? 36 is a major service.

people really dont get this but 188 punto had 12 k schedule grande 18k service schedule so they are bigger services, total services approx up on a 1.2

188 punto 12k 200 24k 330 36k 350 total around 900
199 grande 18k 270 36k 400 total 700

grande c/m are better off than 188 puntos if they do mileage

18k or annually I am certain thats what my book says.... so I took it in at 1 year after my 1st Service, before I had done 36k miles.

phone ya dealer and check part numbers (service parts) for grande against all other models and see not same. then check diff in prices

also examiners fiat have are expensive equipment. they have to pay for theirself

if u want cheap service buy ford because every man and his dog has examiner to look at them but NOT FIAT. i aint saying ur wrong at all to question price but merely pointing out that it is justified to an extent. ok grandes are bit over priced but fiats fault not the dealers
