(G) Anyone traded in their punto towards 08 car

Jason, i read a thread yesterday -someone said the new mark2 GP will be difficult to get with a waitlist already...if this is true then i suspect the dealers will not be willing to haggle ..

I was tempted to upgrade, as with yourself I was paying £130 p/m for a 1.2 active.

They said they'd give me £4.5k max for my GP, and against a 1.4 16v sporting.

Test drove the sporting, and (even after ragging third, which salesman wasnt pleased about) it just didnt feel fast enough to warrent paying almost double the monthly fee.

So I'm sticking with my 1.2 active for 5 years. With a several month wait on the 1.2 series 2 models I'm hoping that by the time the hire purchase has been payed, the 1.2 model will have a little more 'value' in this ever increasing petrol prices world.

Performance on the 1.2 8v is fine for a base level car. Insurance group 2, doubt you can go much faster for so little insurance.

So whats the difference between your current GP and the mk2 or whatever it is?

bought a mk2b punto 1.2 active sport on finance, then within 5 month, the gp came out, and i fell in love with the new one, so a year later, i traded in for the 1.2 active GP, nice car, but felt slower than the mk2b, which had the same size engine and felt a bit plastic interior!! a year later, seen my current one sitting on the forecourt at my dealer,fell in love, and after much thought, decided to go for the sporting, and lived happily ever after!! (and even happier when i shove in a GSR induction kit!!)

I've got an 07 Diesel sporting that i'm tempted to change for a new T-jet.

Just talked to a dealer who's offered my 0% finance over 3 years and £1000 cashback!!

This is against the list price with no discounts though. I doesn't add up for me personally as i owe nothing on the existing car so might as well order one new with the discounts from fiatsupasaver.

Might be worth looking into if you need finance though.

If the finance is secured against the car (HP, PCP etc) it must be settled in full when you trade the car, and a new agreement started on the replacement car.
