26mpg Wtf!!!

Just checked the trip computer and for the last 100miles i have averaged 26mpg to the gallon.

Surely i must have some sort of problem, i mentioned in another thread about a strange reving noise when lifting of the accelerator and i think it could be linked to this.Got it booked in to the dealer next week to look in to this aswell as a nocking noise which now sounds like its coming from the drivers side rear suspension.

I wouldnt have thought 26mpg was possible even if you ragged it everytime you drove it (its not a r32 or focus st ffs), but i havent even pushed it hard at all.Really miffed about this, especially with fuel costs like they are.

I have an 08 t-jet by the way with 1250 miles on the clock

Re: 26mpg Wtf!!!

What kind of driving have you been doing ? This always affects fuel consumption. Best place to go is back to the dealer have a word with DET and see how you get on.

Re: 26mpg Wtf!!!

26mpg is not impossible in a Tjet, the lowest Ive got in mine is about 30mpg in town driving. But its no Tjet lol.

Also put it on instant and drive at about 60mph in 5th and see what it reads and compare to another Tjetter here.

Re: 26mpg Wtf!!!

you are moaning about getting high 20's? Wait untill you get it down to 21/22mpg and you get 190miles to a tank.

I get about the same mpg as you in my t-jet with a bit of motorway driving, bit of spirited driving and a bit of slower paced cruising. Dont forget the engine is still very new so it will pick up over time so stop worrying about nothing. I mean you werent really expecting a 1.4 turbo to be economical were you?

That sounds dodgy...33 mpg after a remap too? Mine does a comfortable 45+mpg with mixed driving.

Re: 26mpg Wtf!!!

depends how you have your foot on the accelerator, stick the IC on and use just your big toe to maintain the speed, get it upto 80 easy

my M-Jet on my 15 mile commute with all my tools in sees about 30 - 40 mpg

if the turbo is whisting its costing you money

Did you check all the inlet pipes like I told you to? this is another symptom linked to the problem you are having.

God knows what some of you guys get up to, I am running totally standard at the mo, I dont drive like a Granny or a Knob and I NEVER get worse than 45 mpg.

Are you guys expecting miracles or just expecting to become the next bunch of moaners about the stuff that mysteriously breaks on your FIATS?
