Re: GSR or K&N?

Hm.. I'm tempted.. would love to see how my 1.4 Sporting MK2B likes a GSR kit. Don't know if I should take it as far as a remap just yet because everything else is standard besides the head unit, and amp+sub.

And I live about 30 mins from Watford.. is that where the meet will be?

How does 118bhp sound with GSR & remap.

Re: GSR or K&N?

Pretty damn good..

At risk of hi-jacking this thread, is it better to get the remap done last? Like if I want to mess about with the exhaust etc. but not sure when I'm gonna get it done, should I hold out on the remap til then?

Thanks.. and nice MK2 you got there.. reminds me of my old car.

Also, actually.. I read on the forum that the induction kit wouldn't make any difference to insurance, but if I didn't tell them, how easy would it be to swap the stock parts back in?

Cheers mate, has different wheels on it now than in my sig though.

As for the remap, I think gsr/red dot will tweak your map free of charge for any future mods so can get it done when you can afford it!

Re: GSR or K&N?

yeah they do tweak the maps for free so get it all done and get instand performance gains...tbf you really need the map to help the engine get used to the gsr so if you can afford it then go for it cos ul notice the difference alot more!!

yeah sure, if you click on "my cars thread" in my signature it'll take you to the thread bout my car...one of the pictures in the 1st thread is my engine bay...but basically

GSR attaches to where the old airbox does using a spring clip (think that's wat they're called lol.) so that bits easy. I've taken my old airbox off but if you leave it on then if the need arrises you can just reconnect it up with ease. Then the gsr itself is held on by a bar that runs off part of the engine and is screwed in at the engine side and the gsr side...all very easy to remove and non permenant and no extra holes required either. I've got some pics somewhere i think so i'll see if i can find them or take some more. ever so easy though. bolt on bolt off job done. I know you shouldn't but i've jacked my car up to get under it...worked fine and had the gsr on and off in bout 15 mins

Re: GSR or K&N?

Got quite a noticeable difference from my gsr even before the map was on.

Re: GSR or K&N?

yeah, they're brilliant on their own!! I just feel that there's a fire breathing dragon in there waiting to be unleashed as opposed to the fire spluttering dragon atm

Re: GSR or K&N?

UPDATE!!

just phoned insurance and they're wanting £25 admin fee for declaring the GSR filter and grille i want to get, and my insurance is then going up from £16 to £20, but meh, she's worth it!! lol!! got 30 days to decide on that price, so i'll just bite the bullet and go order the GSR in a fortnight, hold off for the grille (£175) but will pay the extra for it anyway till i can afford it! lol!!
