Which GP Sport?

Hello,

my first post on here....

i'm planning on buying a new GP as soon a possible. I went to the dealer yesterday to get more information on different versions etc..anyway im going for a test drive on saturday in a 1.4 sporting.....

I'm in abit of a karfuffle...

which GP! should i get?

basically i want a sporty exterior,

either the -dynamic 1.4 16v sport
-1.4 16v sporting
-1.4 16v t-jet

now i know youre all going to say the T-JET, but im not really after speed , i just want a sporty exterior. so whats the difference in the dynamic sport and the sporting?exept alloy size?

one final q.....

i have found the dealers expensive so im going to buy online, been looking at buyacar.co.uk, has anybody used these,

personally i might go for the sporting in new orleans blue(not t-jet)

thanks for your help,

scott

Re: Which GP Sport?

I'd but the sporting rather than the dy-sport. It looks nicer from the outside because of the bigger wheels and the interior is slightly nicer. I would buy the T-JET because of the more useable performance but if insurance is an issue then you may be better off with the non turbo.

Re: Which GP Sport?

yep, money is a bit of an issue, so ill probably go the the sporting....plus the sporting has better economy than the T-JET.

so is the sporting exterior the same as the T-JET sporting?

cheers

All the sportings are the same inside as far as I am aware. And they are all the same outside because the M-Jet wheels are an option now.

Re: Which GP Sport?

why not test drive both and make your decision?

and to throw a spanner into the works what about the M-jet? I know its a diesel but it has as good as performance as the T-jet and as cheap if not cheaper to run than the 1.4?

Before i decided on my GPS i test drove 4 m-jets, 1.2 8v and 1.4 16v - the 1.2 in my opinion was far too slow for the weight of the car and felt like i was flogging a dead horse. The 1.4 was better, still under powered though! But thats my opinion and depends what engine size, etc your use to in your old car and what you intend to use the car for town trips, long distance, etc... My choice was the 1.9, but im still having to adapt my driving style from what im use to only ever owning a petrol. I would never buy a new car without test driving one first thats just madness?

You'll prob end up buying the 1.4 n/a saving a few quid over the t-jet, but then always wish you'd gone for the T. Why does it have to be brand new try and pick a delivery mileage t-jet that'll save you a few quid for starters.

Re: Which GP Sport?

Just buy the T-Jet, top model. cheap car with cheap insurance,

I drove the 1.4 16v and it felt "nothing special" in performance compared to the 1.2

Re: Which GP Sport?

no, no, and no fenton!!!!!

the 1.2 is nothing like the 1.4 16v!!!

i could go and make a cup of tea in the time that my old 1.2 went from 0-60!! the 1.4 is much quicker, especially in the 30 - 40 rpm!!!

are you sure you're not getting confused with the 1.4 8v??

thats only 10 bhp more!!! the 16v is 30 more!! i can feel the extra 30!!!

and its a great wee car for a new driver, and it looks as good as the 1.9 multijet sporting!!

Yes, I do mean the 1.4 16v Starjet Sporting! IMHO it doesnt warrent an upgrade, the car looks quicker than it is. Whereas the Active doesnt look quick at all.

And yup its quicker to 60, but I had to look at the speedo to realise it, because it doesnt feel very torquey at all (which it wouldnt as it 16v)

Also, the 1.4 Starjet Sporting is only insurance group 4, the same as 1.2 Mk1 Punto SX

Re: Which GP Sport?

well i'm quite happy with it, i would have liked a t-jet, but was well out of my budget(iv'e had 3 new cars in 3 years), but im still besotted by the one i bought, and i still get out of it with a stupid grin on my face, so its not worth me upgrading to a t-jet in the near future, maybe 4 years down the line!!
