This is not the usual blue and me post. I am trying to identify where the problem lies with the low sound volume on my system, ie. in the CD head unit or elsewhere. When using my bluetooth on the motorway or going at speed on any road, ie. lots of road noise, the incoming voice volume is too low to be heard. The caller can hear me perfectly well. I have adjusted the volume in the menu settings up to the maximum with no improvement. Anyway, I know the head unit only carries a 12 month warranty, however, is there a separate unit that controls the voice input-output as this may have the fuller warranty. My car is now approaching the two year mark. I really should have taken this back earlier as it has been like this since day one. I am either planning to get rid, or get all the niggly faults fixed and keep it for another year or two.

Is the telephone volume not controlled by the menu option of "external volume" - which as I understand also controls the female "voice" when you press "voice" on the steering wheel? Mine works OK.

Hi Guys, thanks for the replies. However, I should have made my post clearer in that I have tried all known tweaks to the settings. There is an actual fault with mine and I was looking for some knowledgeable person to advise where the voice command control unit is situated, ie. in the head unit or elsewhere. If not in the head unit I should be able to have it fixed under warranty.

I'd just take it straight to the dealer!

I do plan to take it to the dealer. I just want to be clued up when I do. Don't want to upset T but my experience of dealer's in my area is pretty poor. Don't want to be fobbed off with 'out of warranty' crap. If the bluetooth voice module is separate from the head unit it should be covered. Head unit only one year warranty and I have been advised by a dealer that it is in the head unit. I have an electronic workshop manual and it identifies a separate module. I am looking for confirmation of this fact. If the ePER was working I would look for the part number.
Hopefully T will sort me out.

Wont upset me...I know the dealers in your area,I just like to put the other side of the 'equation' foward so readers can make up their own minds.

Control unit is above lovebox.

Cheers T, so it will be covered under warranty. Thanks again. Planning to try AC in Ayr.

let me get this straight its the volume during a call & you cant hear them?

Yes T, The call volume is very low, the caller can hear me perfectly but I struggle to hear them. It is okay at low speed around town but as soon as I pick up speed and associated road noise it becomes impossible to have a conversation. I have the voice setting at maximum and during the call have the volume setting on the head unit at maximum. My bluetooth is one of the early ones. Any help appreciated.

have you got the speed auto increase setting activated (faster you go volume rises AVC+3) also is phone volume at max.

I don't have AVC setting, only SVC and it is on. Voice setting is also at maximum 40 (when setting it with radio on the speakers are almost bursting it is so loud, however, the phone volume remains low). These settings are in the CD head unit menu. I don't have any relevant phone settings in the computer memory to the right of the steering wheel. I have also tried about 6 different pphones with no diference at all.

Hi T,
Got it booked in to AC Fiat in Rutherglen next Tuesday at 8.00 AM, apparently Allison Street mob has relocated there. Getting them to look at steering, windscreen washer not working, glovebox and a few other things to get started with. Hope they look after it. Anyone I should look out for there?
On a side note regarding dealerships and servicing. I explained to the girl that I was travelling a long way (90 minute drive) and would prefer to wait for the diagnosis from the tech. before booking it back in for repairs (I'll then hire a car). She reckoned it will take about 60 to 90 minutes. So booked it in for 8.00 AM to be sure it would be done at start of shift. She then proceeded to tell me that it was first come first served. How can that be, you have either got a 8.00 AM slot or you ain't.This happened before at AC Hyundai in Glasgow. Booked the car in for 8.00 AM start as I would be waiting. Come 10.00 AM the car was still sitting outside in the car park. This is surely a bit of a **** taker. Any thoughts anybody, or do I need to be there at 6.00AM!!!!!!!!!

I was playing around with the blue & me last night & was talking to wife on phone & I had to turn it down it was too loud (she always shouts at me anyway to be honest;)) i'll play around with it tomorrow & see if I can give you a definate answer.

Thanks for that T. I am taking it in first thing tomorrow with a list.

My Blue&Me is really quiet too. The menu commands are barely audible. If I fiddle with the volume controls then I can get it to a comfortable volume but if I then leave the car and come back it's quiet again.

No wonder your wife shouts at you if you are always playing around!
