Hi,

I've just put my grande punto in for its seond year service and Benfield are telling me that because I've done more than 9000 miles since my last one, I need a major service at a cost of £358. This cant be right can it? Seems far too expensive!

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

My Dealer quoted £398!! So I went to my Local Alfa Specialist and got it done for £260!!

Low mileage servicing only applies to 1st, 3rd, 5th etc year. Vehicle must be serviced with the full schedule every two years regardless of mileage (as stated in Service book and on the Service sheet), so they're right on that account.

Labour time is over 3 hours and involves replacing all the filters, checking valve clearances, exhaust emissions, etc, plus the cost of the parts, then the dreaded VAT. The differences in the total cost are mainly down to labour rates, as all Dealers use Fiat's Menu Pricing system for the times and parts required.

the gp multijet fuel filter is £77 thats why its so expensive that gets changed in the 36k service
