GP Sporting q's

hi all

have not been here in a while, but i have some questions re: the grande punto sporting, as am considering one - they seem such good value now.

there are three engines - 1.4 16v (broadly same as panda 100hp engine), 1.4 16v turbo (as 100hp with turbo, similar to engine in abarth GP / 500) , and 1.9 8v turbo diesel. Is this correct or are there other options - i keep seeing 1.3 multijet sportings but am assuming these are in error.

are they all six speed?

do all GP's have the reach adjustment on the steering wheel?

is the 1.9 8v diesel in fact a newer version of the old JTD found in the mk2 punto (i used to have this engine if so), rebadged as multijet like all fiat diesels?

are there any impressions of the 1.4 non turbo in this car - in my head i imagine it to be perhaps better balanced than the diesel but you would have to be revving the bolts out of it all the time.... is it therefore false economy?

thanks in advance!!
jim

Re: GP Sporting q's

1.3 Mjet, 1.9 MJet both diesel turbos. 1.9 is the old 8valver on steroids. 1.3 MJet is new.

Then the smaller petrol models , 1.4 TJet (turbo petrol) and some also rans...

1.4 TJet or 1.9 MJet IMO

The 1.3 MJet has chronic turbo lag

1.4 TJet is a lighter car because of the engine weight as you say but OMG the easy tuning potential of the 1.9 is brill!

My 1.9 has seat height and steering wheel height / rake adjustment.

Re: GP Sporting q's

Sorry but i can only answer 2 of your questions. regarding the 6 speed box, the 1.4 N/A and 1.9 M-Jet have 6 speed box's but for some strange reason the 1.4 T-Jet only has a 5. The T-Jet engine is a fairly new engine so the tuning capabilities are not as great as the M-Jet, but a few performance mods are slowly creeping in, i think the GSR induction kit and Red Dot Racing re-map are now available, which should gain about 150bhp. I have a biased opinion about the T-jet as i myself own one, but we here on the forum have come to the conclusion that if you do lots of miles then have the M-Jet but if not then get the T-Jet as it is not as good as the M-Jet on mpg. Hope that essay answered a few questions of yours.
