(G) Steering Rack Under Warranty

Took my car into T.J. Vickers this morning to get a few things looked at under warranty.

They cleaned up and greased my rusty battery bolts, ordered a new set of brake pads and a new dashboard vent trim to be fitted under warranty.

I also need a new steering rack as the old one was clunking. they said they would need to ask the service manager whether this can be done under warranty or not, whos on holiday till Wednesday

Anyone had this done?

I'm sure it can be done under warranty, car has only done 10K and has 2 months of the 2 year warranty left.

Plus the car was supposedly checked and serviced by T.J. Vickers when I bought it so they should have caught all the problems really.

Surely its got to be covered under warranty!

Yes will be but I suspect there was no one there (sat staff) that wanted to take responsibility which I can understand.Has the rack been changed before?

Not to my knowledge, Eurocar were previous owwners but nothing in Servicing booklet or other paperwork to suggest anything has been done before.

dealer can look at past warranty claims (no matter from what garage) however once fixed..............you'll miss all those noises you have come to know so well

mine has got the same problem but they are doing mine under warrenty. still waiting for the rack to be deliverd though two weeks later

You need to be strong Tom.....demand you drive the car not her

That's good news then, they should do mine as well.

Gonna complain though, Dealer Mechanics took it for service and test drive before I bought it and they missed all 4 of the things I took it back on.

Lol I've only got a provisional, even worse though I pay for it, wash it, and maintain it as my wife knows nought about cars.

Still, test coming up in March.

First decent car we've been able to afford after sorting out somewhere to live and some furniture.

Despite all the little problems I love the car, can't wait to pass my test. Then I can put the wife in the passenger seat.
