do DO IT, DO IT NOW!.

Also you can even get some company's to come to you although then you won't get it rolling roaded to test the power.

The car will be totally transformed and will be better to drive weither your a boy racer or a retired pensioner. Will have better MPG while taking it easy and cruising and alot more power for overtaking etc.

There're more remap threads here than the number of tissues I use to wipe my butt every morning

Re: I need convincing (remap)

hey i went to autosport show last week and they had a new blue fin thing which is a totally legit gadget that you can plug in and place new map over existing ecu map, or take off when ever you want. its from superchips.co.uk but it doesnt work on fiats.......which im well annoyed about cos thats what i would buy.
i think...if you're going to get it done, get it done from a reputable place. i am in a similar situation. however i cant seem to get a decent insurance quote!
way up the pro's and the con's. Trying to the sell the car remapped, insurance, wear and tear on engine, clutch, gearbox, brakes and rubber on the front? it wont be cheap.
will it give you loads of fun??
sorry if this doesnt help but im trying to convince myself i dont need one either.

Re: I need convincing (remap)

If you buy the car to sell it you will never make a profit before it gets about 50 years old.

Either you tune it to have fun with it or you might leave it.

The wear to the engine and drive train is minimal when driven with brains, which doesn't mean to hang about.

The fuel saving will even repay the map.

Not finding an acceptable insurance quote? Try HIC or the other specialists recommended on ff.

I've changed my tune (get it!!!) on remaps over the past few months being the forums most adament sceptic on the subject. It will definitely give you more fun seeing what some of the guys are getting in terms of serious power from the 1.9 MJet....you'll probably end buying some extra toilet paper like Luvduvs to keep in the car!!

My issues were with component wear and tear but from what has been said and discussed it's pretty obvious that this is purely down to the way you drive and if you're sensible there's no reason why there should be any problems. As far as insurance, warranty and re-sell are concerned this is where my scepticism persists unfortunately and is stopping me from getting it done at the moment.....so, although I really want too for drivability improvements and MPG (OK speed aswell), I'm still not totally convinced

I 'know' I want to Chris (and probably will one day) but I've got this voice in my head saying don't do it. Bit like the 6th sense film but it's 'I see sensible people'. Horrible! total nightmare

Nice one....I need some practice with that maybe!

As I said almost sold on a remap......and thinking about what Oldschool mentioned the re-sale worry is probably not an issue. Also insurance may not be a problem with a descent quote form an understanding broker.

So that just leaves warranty and service/dealer complications (wiping etc).....getting close

Also a little concerned about the car being too fast for my average driving skills of course. 170bhp is alot for a GP in my book. The Abarth is getting only 155!!

Re: I need convincing (remap)

Don't do it for the fuel economy...even though mine's gone up from 38.5 to 42.3mpg after a £300 remap, it will take 26,500 miles to recoup my outlay at current fuel price of £1.07 litre. hahaha

Just do it for the factor!
