Fiat has confirmed the launch of its 1.4-litre, turbocharged Grande Punto Abarth - but there's a hotter Grande Punto on the way as well, countering concerns that the Abarth's 150bhp (180bhp with optional booster kit) just isn't enough.

The Grande Punto Brutale, which revives a name used on a version of the Lancia Delta Integrale, is a road-going version of Fiat's Super 2000 rally car. It will develop between 200bhp and 240bhp from its turbocharged engine, possibly a new version of the 2.4-litre unit originally used in the Stilo Abarth, and have four-wheel-drive.

Expect a stripped-out interior, perhaps with the options of a roll cage and the removal of the rear seats, racing harnesses and full rally-style dials and instruments. There'll be a full S2000-style exterior body kit.

Fiat is said to be planning a production run of just 250 cars, in line with the regulations to homologate the rally car. Prices have not yet been outlined.

now that sounds more interesting, but 200bhp isnt enough IMO

standard hot hatches cars come with that now, needs something closer to 300bhp

already heard about this before but nothing about it being a road going version. lol sounds very interesting to me.
