Pretty sure it's deadlocking, so you can't open the car doors from inside if some scumbag smashes a window.
Yep, just checked mine and that is what it is. Seems mine works, that is a novelty.
PS Who says I moan all the time. I have just been helpful to another GPS owner. Need to go and lie down now as the thought of something actually working in my car has made me feel quite faint.

Re: Locking - Twice ? Alarm ?

IT IS DOUBLE LOCKING IT WORKS IN THE SAME WAY AS YOUR CAPS LOCK KEY TURNS OFF

when you press the button twice it disables the inner door catch so if you break the window the door wont open...

you can prove this lock the car with the window open with one press = the door will still open if you pull on the inside lever ,

try it with 2 presses and you wont get in by pulling the lever..

IIRC there is no factory fit alarm on the GP

lol but you didnt manage to do the whole post without a moan.

All newish cars have em, my 02 corsa did, it just makes thigs a bit harder for theives. When my old car got broken into they were stopped by the deadlock so the tried to wrench the door off by puttin their fingers in the top of the door and putting a foot against the car then pulling hard. Cost me £600 for a new door and head unit (didnt want to lose my no claims) so now i just dont use the deadlocks.

You wouldn't want to be in a stolen car with no easy way out if the police tried to stop you unless you have practiced your dukes of hazard method of entry/exit..

T, not sure if you are having a go at me or B_Cooper about reading the manual. Anyway, I can confirm, and if you ask my kids they will agree, my war cry is 'read the instructions'. I kind of remembered from reading the manual that the deadlocking was engaged by pressing button twice, I checked in the car to confirm.
PS. It was by reading the manual at time of purchase of car that I was led to believe that my car's first service was due at 24 months or 18,000 miles. Anyway, don't want to bore everyone again with my story about bad info. given to me by AC prior to sale and reinforced by early service booklet (subsequently changed by Fiat). Enough said, my hackles are rising again!!!!!!!
