V power diesel

Just put in my first tank of the stuff after burning the tank to almost empty of tesco stuff.

just wondering how much people are paying for the stuff, i paid £1.079 for it. for now i dont really think its worth it but maybe i have to fill up a few tanks before i feel the difference?

my friend told me that £30 of normal and v power would give me the same mileage and for now, his point is not looking promising!

That is quite cheap.

Round here you pay about 2p more for that stuff

Re: V power diesel

I go through roughly a tank of diesel a week and noticed when i filled up with v-power diesel the amount of black smoke that came out of the exhaust was quite a lot and not always when booting it, compared to normal shell diesel.

Re: V power diesel

kip,

that black smoke, is it because you mix normal diesel with v power? maybe its cos we have to clean your engine out?

did you notice any sort of improvements?

Re: V power diesel

I can tell no difference between shell V power and reg diesel. not in consumption or power.

I have also run a clio diesel for 120,000 on reg shell diesel with no problems so I dont follow the logic that V power diesel is good for the valves etc, reg diesel works for me and at a lower cost.

Will fuel ever come down in price???

Re: V power diesel

It would have to Gold Plate the inside of the engine before I paid the extra.

Its around 7p a litre more here. The central pump that has V power is often deserted with cars lining up for the regular diesel pumps.

I too have done 100s of thousands on regular Shell/other diesel and see no reason to change.

Having said that, tried it under duress as pulled up at the new V power pump in error once, no difference.

Re: V power diesel

V-power contains engine cleaning additives.
No performance benefit will be experienced.

Re: V power diesel

yup, 2nd day of running with v power and the mpg has actually got worse, despite me driving like a granny. (i don't know why everyone thinks that every granny drives dead slow by the way??)

when it comes to reg diesel, do people normally fill up with fuel company diesel and always stays away from supermarket stuff??

Re: V power diesel

lol with prices as they are you would have to be bonkers to buy v power, especially as it makes NO difference what so ever. I paid 105.9 for normal shell diesel today. Madness.

No when i filled it i had been driving on the light for about 30 miles so was really empty. Can't say i did but only tried one tank and never tried again because of the smoke.

May try it again when i next need to fill up for a couple of tanks and see how it goes

reserve tank (when light comes on) is 7 litres, so £7 worth of fuel. probably good 50 miles of driving, obviously not flooring it.
