Re: would you reccomend your punto to a friend

ok well apart from a few people do not get the wrong idea about the gp's most people on here are those searching for problems on google and find this forum so some may slate the gp.

but i personally love my gp ok i needed a re-call but that was because my gp was an early one, but apart from that i love it! everyone notices it and compliments me on it i love it and mine is only the active!!

Re: would you reccomend your punto to a friend

Hmmm... as this post is in the GP section is it GP Punto's that we are being asked about recommending?

I would recommend a 1.9 GP Sporting to my friends, have done, no probs with mine.

But, I wouldnt buy a previous Punto, not that we had a bad one, our 60SX was brill, just thge posts that put me off personally. But then there are a lot about and plenty that have been neglected, and so are probably trouble, especially if they have been bodged about!

Recommend GP 1.9 Sporting? ... YES
Recommend a previous model Punto? ... NO

Personal opinion.

Re: would you reccomend your punto to a friend

A site like this is populated both by enthusiasts and by people who have no particular interest in a particular make of car, but have been drawn to a GP because of its very real beauty, and have had problems and are looking for support.

There do seem to have been a consistent number or problems: steering, water ingress, noisy brakes, door locks - to name the most regular ones - which we all know Fiat is seriously addressing.

My feeling is that the GP was launched too soon. Sadly, these real annoyances will tarnish the car's reputation. How could they not? Also, Fiats are expected to be unreliable, so these reports will fan extant prejudices. Which is why Fiat has to try harder than other makers to produce reliable cars. VWs, for instance, are supposed to be reliable (they have their own problems too, believe me) but owners are loathe to own up to them in public for fear of losing face.

If Fiat was more generous in addressing the problems and sweetening unhappy customers then more of them might be persuaded to recommend the cars.

I would never recommend a car to anyone myself, however, no matter how good. If problems were to occur then I would, if only tacitly, be blamed, and I don't need that.

Just stick to the "in my experience..."line. That's safest.

Re: would you reccomend your punto to a friend

I would recommend it to my friends, just so I get some company down here in lonely-land, and also see them whinge when niggles rear their ugly heads

Re: would you reccomend your punto to a friend

I would if it was a person i dont see to often.. .

Don't want someone with the same car as me :p

Nah the GP is great, love it to bits. I would recommend it!

I'd recommend all my past fiats tho

Re: would you reccomend your punto to a friend

yep deffo.

i LOVE this car

Definately. Had a couple of minor problems but these nowhere near over come the postives. My dad has a Fabia vrs and id recommend my 1.9 sporting over it any day. I think he might aswell but he would never admit to it!!

Yeah im with everyone else, even though ive had a few niggles id still recommend it.

Although there have been faults with the GPs this is to be expected from most new cars. I honestly cant recall the last new car we picked up as a family that didnt have some problems, its life.

Hmmm....this could well be controversial...but I'm not sure.

I mean it looks amazing, comfortable and handles great...but surely all of these minor problems people have gained should not occur on a brand new car. I mean, a company if they have developed a car properly, should not have these problems, which are so simple to fix.

But, on the other hand....its fooking beautiful :D sounds great, looks great and value its pretty cheap.

Exactly. This is like i said before, i cant remember ever buying a brand new car that didnt have problems. It is even more likely, and a little more understandable, when you think that the GP is a new car in general. Its not like its been in production for 4 or 5 years and they are still rolling off the production line with the same faults.

I got interested and then ordered my GP after recommendations by Jetweed and Captain Chaos and although the Captain has had his share of problems I know he's still a big fan of the car.

Now hurry up and deliver mine! :D

I'd recommend my GP 1.3 90 with the caveat about the turbo lag at city speeds - not something you would expect (and not something I discovered during my test drive because once you're moving it's great!).

Nice car and I've not had any of the niggles that have plagued others - comfy, roomy, nice stereo, good power and frugal.

Of course there are also questions as to why FIAT have swim against the flow in ridiculuously simple things: like the radio switching off when you turn off the engine rather than when taking the key out! Oh well, at least it's different!

Nice car. Good value. What else do you want?

Hi,
I don't know of any brand new model of car ever rolling off the production line without any problems. That's why I would always wait until the early owners have ironed things out. I'm sure the manufacturers plan it that way as it's cheaper for them.
Now I'm not saying I'm old but I remember the complaints when the first Ford Capri came rolling out with a 121 faults. Oh dear what a give away.
