Re: GP sporting chip????????

hiya matey, a company called angel tuning is your best bet i think, they offer a remap which will boost the power to 170bhp... do a search and you will find loads of information from various threads concerning the matter. HTH

edit: also ups the torque output from iirc, 207lb/ft to 262lb/ft

cost is about £325

Thats all spot on info. Re-mapping is definately the way to go, better than chipping a car. In some peoples eyes its the same thing but there is a difference.

There are loads and loads of threads that cover all aspects of it. If there is anything you want to know though just ask as there will always be someone here who knows.

Group buys are also good to try and get the cost down, its finding people though that could be a problem.

I can see what your saying but detecting a re-map is a lot more difficult than a lot of people seem to think. What happens on the off chance you dont get to remove the box before the car gets looked at, you are definately screwed then.

Re: GP sporting chip????????

also if the bodyshop or servicers do wipe the re-map off you can also get a free update if you get it done by angel tuning!

Re: GP sporting chip????????

I just think that all the little extras Angel offer make it worthwhile. Also the power gains are slightly higher than the box and you know that the map has been written specially for your model of car and that there has been extensive testing on it.

Re: GP sporting chip????????

the tunit box can be remapped up to 190bhp i just settled for 170bhp the standard box is 155bhp its just select the parameters just like a remapped does to your own cars ecu thats all. inside the ecu or outside no difference.it aint no cheap little box like some on the market.quite high tec actually.each to their own you pays your money to take your choice

Re: GP sporting chip????????

Yep, it's about £50 extra on the premium for my Stilo.
So no reason really not to tell your insurance co.

Re: GP sporting chip????????

Now that we are comparing the 2 solutions for increased power I have 2 questions:

The tunit box obviously changes only the fueling / common rail parameters.
The remap does just the same or it also increases the preasure of the turbo?

And since the consumption goes down as well ( if you do not keep your right foot down ) what happens to the CO2 emmissions? They should rise considerably. Does anyone know how much?
